Debt Cancellation Sunday: Your Rights, Your Renewal, and the Year of Release

Debt Cancellation Sunday: Your Rights, Your Renewal, and the Year of Release

Teaching by Prophet Lovy L. Elias · Watch on YouTube · 8 April 2024

You are not called to a life of struggle — you are called to reign above all nations as a child of God.

Debt is not merely a financial condition — it is a spiritual one. God never designed His children to borrow, to be bound, or to remain beneath. Through the understanding of spiritual law, the renewing of the mind by the Word, and the radical exercise of your rights as a son or daughter of God, every cycle of debt and struggle can be broken — not by begging, but by knowing what already belongs to you.

Teaching Overview

  1. Number one: understand that we are called to a higher standard. We are called to a higher place.

God Operates by Spiritual Principles, Not Emotions

  • God is Spirit, and He operates exclusively by spiritual principles — not by tears, carnality, or emotional appeals.
  • God cares deeply for human pain, but He responds to the language of the Spirit, not the language of circumstance.
  • God will make Himself present in a life, but He will never violate a person's will — He invites, He does not invade.

"God will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever violate your will to either desire him or to reject him."

The Spiritual Law Against Borrowing

  • No scripture in the Bible encourages borrowing — on the contrary, God's Word consistently positions His children as lenders, not borrowers.
  • The borrower is a servant to the lender — spiritual ownership and labor are transferred to whoever lends.
  • When God's people are bound by debt, they are disqualified from freely serving the Father and become servants to someone else's purpose.

"When you are bound in the realms of borrowing, whoever lends to you is not actually lending to you to give back. Spiritually, they want to own you and to maintain that labor because you will not be able to catch up."

The Prophetic Significance of Seven Years

  • The number seven represents completion and rest — it is therefore a violation of spiritual law for a child of God to remain bound in debt beyond seven years.
  • Every seven years is a year of release — if you have been in debt more than seven years, God must erase that debt according to the law of the Spirit.
  • The appearance of the Lord Jesus was itself the marking of the seventh year spiritually — His coming paid the debt owed to sin and inaugurated a new beginning.

"If you have received the Lord Jesus, you are already in your year of release."

The Renewed Mind as the Gateway to Blessing

  • The toughest thing to cast out is not a demon — it is the soul, because the soul cannot be cast out; it must be renewed.
  • The soul is only transformed by the Word of God, not by prayer — the Word alone has the power to shift the mind into the place God has ordained.
  • God must remove a guilty conscience, a condemned conscience, and normalised poverty from the mind before His children can receive what He has prepared.

"Your body can never go where your mind has not been."

Your Rights as a Child of God

  • Blessing, healing, open doors, and increase are not privileges — they are the rights of a son or daughter of God.
  • A child does not petition a father for what the father owes — a son demands, not because he has earned it, but because sonship itself confers the right.
  • God is not doing you a favor when He blesses you — He is fulfilling His covenant obligation to His children.

"It is your right to be blessed. It is your right to be healed. It is your right to have open doors. It is your right to excel. This is not privilege. It is a right."

Taking the Kingdom by Force

  • The Kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent take it by force — this means taking what already belongs to you, not stealing what does not.
  • The violent taking is not aggression toward others; it is radical, unapologetic, unwavering faith that holds onto every word God has spoken.
  • Faith is never blind — faith sees the impossible, receives the incredible, and achieves what sight alone cannot comprehend.

"The Kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent take it by force. Take it. It's yours. It's therefore the taking. No one is protecting it. No one is keeping you from it. Take it."

Foolish Zeal Versus the Zeal of God

  • Foolish zeal is zeal without spiritual knowledge — it produces judgment, the celebration of others' downfall, and division in the body.
  • The zeal of God produces compassion — it makes you cry for souls that are losing, not celebrate the exposure of those who fall.
  • A righteous man falls seven times and rises again — his stumble does not make him false, and the God who lives in him has not stumbled.

"The zeal of God makes you cry for souls that are losing."

The Blessings of Deuteronomy 28

  • The blessings of God are designed to come upon you and overtake you — meaning even after a stumble, another blessing is already moving ahead of you.
  • God's intention is to set His children high above all nations so that economic shifts, governmental changes, and world conditions do not define their reality.
  • The blessings of God cover every domain: the city, the field, the body, the ground, the cattle, the basket, and every coming and going.

"There is already a blessing that has already preceded you, that you are about to walk into and all your debts are about to disappear today."

Key Definitions

Faith — Faith is never blind; it is the spiritual capacity to see the impossible, receive the incredible, and achieve what natural sight cannot access.

Belief — A mental assent to something not yet certain; the starting point of receiving, distinct from faith, which operates in the realm of the definite.

Decree — A mature declaration of a specific outcome spoken by a believer who is established in their identity and authority as a son or daughter of God.

Demand — Asserting what is owed to you as a child of God — not a plea for mercy, but a claim of right, the way a son claims provision from a father.

The Year of Release — The prophetic seventh-year principle in which all debt is spiritually cancelled; those who have received the Lord Jesus are already in their year of release.

Poverty (according to God) — The condition of having nothing to give to others; if you cannot help the person next to you, you are still poor — regardless of personal sufficiency.

Key Takeaways

  • God operates by spiritual principles, not emotional appeals — Approaching God without understanding the language He responds to means remaining in lack even while praying sincerely.
  • The borrower is a servant to the lender — Debt is not merely financial; it carries a spiritual transfer of ownership and labor that must be broken through the law of the Spirit.
  • The soul must be renewed by the Word to receive God's blessings — No amount of prayer can substitute for the transforming power of the Word of God on the mind.
  • Blessing, healing, and increase are your rights, not privileges — Treating God's provision as a favor rather than a covenant right keeps believers living as beggars in their Father's house.
  • Radical, unapologetic faith is how you take what already belongs to you — The violence of the Kingdom is not aggression; it is the bold, unwavering certainty that what God has said is done.

Reflection Questions

  1. In your prayer life, are you approaching God as a son or daughter making a rightful demand, or as a beggar petitioning for a favor — and what has shaped that posture?
  2. What debt, cycle, or pattern in your life has persisted beyond seven years, and what would it mean to you to truly believe that the law of the Spirit requires its release?
  3. Where has your zeal been foolish — motivated by judgment or the exposure of others — rather than driven by compassion for souls who are losing?
  4. What has your mind normalized as "just the way things are" that God's Word directly contradicts, and what specific scripture do you need to renew your thinking with?
  5. If God is already saying "all things are yours," what is one thing you have been waiting for God to give you that He may actually be waiting for you to take?

Prayers and Declarations

Lift your hands before we begin:

"Ask the Holy Spirit to mold you. Ask the Lord to be patient with you because he already is, and he is merciful. Recognize that we are difficult to deal with but he is merciful. Recognize that we will continue to fail but he is more than capable to carry us. Ask the Lord to mold you and lift your voice."
