God's Red Carpet: How to Invoke the Presence of God Through Thanksgiving and Strategic Prayer

God's Red Carpet: How to Invoke the Presence of God Through Thanksgiving and Strategic Prayer

Teaching by Prophet Lovy L. Elias · Watch on YouTube · 16 August 2022

The gateway to God's manifest presence is not guilt-driven repentance — it is the language of gratitude that opens portals of heaven.

There is a distinction between the omnipresent Spirit of God and the manifest, tangible presence of God — and understanding that distinction changes everything about how you pray. God's presence is not welcomed into a room; it is invoked through specific spiritual protocols. Thanksgiving is the key that opens the gates of heaven, strategic prayer rolls out the red carpet for God to move, and gratitude — not holiness performance — is what attracts God to act.

Teaching Overview

  1. The Spirit of God is omnipresent, but the manifest presence of God is distinct and must be deliberately invoked through spiritual protocol.
  2. Thanksgiving is the gateway that opens the portals of heaven — prayer that begins without it is spiritually weak.
  3. God is attracted not by what you can produce through holiness performance, but by what He has already produced in His goodness.
  4. Prayer is not a monologue of confession — it is strategic interaction with a Person, beginning with the recognition of God's goodness.
  5. Repentance that flows from the recognition of God's goodness is more powerful than repentance driven by guilt.

Key Distinctions

ResultReligious performance without transformationGenuine return — coming to oneself and choosing the Father
What drives itSin-consciousnessGod-consciousness — the goodness of God leads to repentance

The Spirit of God vs. the Presence of God

  • The Spirit of God is omnipresent — sustaining all of reality, present in heaven, hell, the sea, and every situation simultaneously.
  • The word of God always follows where the Spirit is; the Spirit of God preceded the Word and precedes all creation.
  • The manifest presence of God is the tangible, localized person of God — distinct from His omnipresent Spirit — and it must be deliberately invoked through spiritual protocol.

"The presence of God is the manifest tangible person of God. That is what separates the difference between the spirit of God and the presence of God."

The Dispensation of All Men Receiving the Holy Spirit

  • It is not accurate to say we simply live in the dispensation of the Holy Spirit — the Spirit of God has been present since before creation, hovering over the waters in Genesis.
  • What is new in this covenant is that all men can receive the Holy Spirit — the indwelling of God's Spirit in every believer is the new covenant gift.
  • Having the Spirit of God and actively working with the presence of God are two entirely different things.

"This is the dispensation of all men receiving the Holy Spirit, not just the dispensation of the Holy Spirit."

Why Demons Fear the Presence — Not the Spirit

  • Demons are not afraid of the Holy Spirit — the Holy Spirit is omnipresent, and even the most wicked man alive is kept alive by the Holy Spirit.
  • Demons fear the manifest presence of God — where God is, they have no desire to remain.
  • A demon would rather go to hell and never return to earth than be in the presence of someone who carries God.

"Demons are not afraid of the anointing. Demons are not afraid of the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit is everywhere. Demons are afraid of the presence of God."

Mysteries, Callings, and the Angelic Realm

  • God is a God of mysteries and secrets — not everything He reveals is meant for everyone, because certain truths belong only to specific callings.
  • Not every believer is called to walk in direct communion with the angelic realm; some receive angelic help without awareness, while others are given direct interaction as part of their calling.
  • Deriving doctrine without understanding the fullness of what Scripture reveals about the angelic dimension produces heresy and powerlessness.

"If you derive a doctrine just without actually understanding something, you could mess yourself up and you can mess up a lot of people."

Spiritual Portals and the Permission of Men

  • Spirits — both holy and demonic — are not permitted to operate in the physical dimension without the permission of a man; a bridge must be created.
  • Satanic invocations create a bridge for evil spirits to cross into the physical world; conversely, prayer and repentance create a bridge that connects a person to heaven.
  • The closer we approach the end of the age, the more demonic people are learning these spiritual principles to open portals for darkness — believers must understand the same laws to open portals for light.

"Spirits are not permitted in the earth or the physical dimension without the permission of a man."

Prayer Empowers the Angels Around Your Life

  • Your prayer creates a pathway between the physical world and the spiritual world — a person who does not pray becomes weak and powerless because they are cutting themselves off from heaven.
  • Angels are sent to minister and excel in strength, but the quality of your life and your acknowledgment of God determines how much grace and strength they are empowered to operate with on your behalf.
  • Acknowledging God empowers the angels around your life to go ahead of you and carry out the assignment of God in your life.

"You acknowledging God empowers the angels around your life to go ahead of you and to carry out the assignment of God in your life."

Demonic Legalities in Deliverance

  • When the manifest presence of God is present, a demon inside a person will manifest greatly — not because it wants to stay, but because it wants to leave.
  • A demon cannot exit on its own — just as a man opened the door for it to enter, another man must open the door for it to leave; this is the function of the one carrying God's presence commanding it to go.
  • When a demon is cast out and commanded never to return, even if there is a spiritual loophole that allows it near the person again, it is blind to them — there is a barrier it cannot cross.

"A demon is preferring going to hell and never return on earth than being in your presence if you have God."

Thanksgiving: The Key That Opens Heaven's Gates

  • Thanksgiving is the gateway to the portals of heaven — the moment you begin giving thanks to God, you provoke the portals of heaven to open.
  • This is why prayer must always begin with thanksgiving; prayer that lacks thanksgiving is spiritually weak before it has even reached its first petition.
  • The testimony of what God has done — rehearsing His victories in your life — is itself a weapon of overcoming, as the blood of the Lamb and the word of testimony together are what defeat the enemy.

"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving. The moment you start giving thanks to God, you have provoked the portals of heaven to open."

Jesus and the Protocol of Thanksgiving

  • When Jesus multiplied bread for over ten thousand people, He did not pray for multiplication — He simply gave thanks, and thanksgiving alone provoked heaven to multiply.
  • Thanksgiving is a form of presenting what you have before God — lifting it up, acknowledging Him over it, and creating the conditions for heaven to act.
  • Becoming a master at giving thanks is entering a different spiritual dimension — it is not passive gratitude but intentional, deliberate spiritual action.

"When you become a master at giving thanks, you are entering into a different dimension, now you have become spiritual because this thing must be intentional."

Reordering Prayer: God's Goodness Before Confession

  • Prayer does not begin with forgiveness of sins — even the Lord's Prayer begins with the recognition of who God is, the greatness of His name, and the coming of His kingdom.
  • The will of God does not come because you repented — it comes as you acknowledge the God whose will it is; sin is a small thing to God because He already paid the price for it.
  • The church has inadvertently idolized sin by making it the first and primary focus of prayer — this magnifies sin and makes it harder for people to come out of it.

"Prayer doesn't begin with forgiveness. Prayer begins by recognizing the God who is good that is able to forgive you."

God's Goodness Attracts His Presence

  • Those who emphasize holiness above all else often remain powerless because God is not attracted by what you can produce — He is attracted by what He has produced.
  • Psalm 103 is a model of how to come before God: beginning with His benefits, His forgiveness, His healing, His redemption, His loving-kindness — not with self-examination and confession.
  • God is slow to anger, abounding in mercy, and cannot even sustain anger — the image of an angry, punishing God waiting to catch believers in failure is a distortion of Scripture.

"God is not attracted by what you can produce. God is attracted by what He has produced."

God Does Not Deal With You According to Your Sin

  • God has not dealt with us after our sins, nor does He reward us according to our iniquities — the teaching that your current suffering is the direct result of what you have done is a lie from the enemy.
  • The righteous man falls seven times and rises again, and God still calls him righteous — God's assessment of a person is not based on their stumbling but on His own declaration over them.
  • Repentance that comes from recognizing God's goodness — as the prodigal son who remembered the abundance in his father's house — is more powerful and authentic than repentance driven by guilt.

"Repentance comes from my father is so good and he has shown me who I really am. That is where repentance comes from."

Key Definitions

Presence of God — The manifest, tangible, localized person of God — distinct from His omnipresent Spirit — which must be deliberately invoked through spiritual protocol such as thanksgiving and strategic prayer.

Omnipresence — The quality of God's Spirit by which He is simultaneously present everywhere in creation: in heaven, hell, the sea, every home, and every living thing — sustaining all reality.

Portal (Gate) — A spiritual opening between the physical and heavenly dimensions, created through prayer, thanksgiving, and acknowledgment of God, through which heaven is able to interact with the earth.

Strategic Prayer — Prayer that is not defined by clever words but by the understanding that you are interacting with a Person — beginning with thanksgiving and the recognition of God's goodness before petition or confession.

Ministering Spirits (Angels) — Angelic beings sent to serve those appointed by God, who are empowered by the acknowledgment of God in a person's life and who respond to the voice that carries His Word.

Repentance — Not primarily a response to guilt or fear of punishment, but a return to God that flows from recognizing His goodness — seeing clearly who the Father is and what is available in His house.

Key Takeaways

  • The Spirit of God and the presence of God are not the same thing — Understanding this distinction is the foundation for learning how to access divine power, because you cannot strategically invoke what you do not distinguish.
  • Thanksgiving is the gateway that opens the portals of heaven — Prayer that begins without it lacks the key that unlocks heaven's access to your situation.
  • God is attracted by what He has produced, not by what you can produce — Shifting from a performance-based approach to a goodness-centered approach is what moves you from powerlessness into the dimension where God manifests.
  • Your acknowledgment of God directly empowers the angels assigned to your life — Neglecting prayer and thanksgiving does not just affect your connection to God; it strips the angelic forces around you of the strength to act on your behalf.
  • Prayer must begin with the recognition of God's goodness, not with confession of sin — This reordering is not a minor adjustment; it changes the entire spiritual atmosphere your prayer creates.

Reflection Questions

  1. When you pray, where do you begin — with confession and petition, or with thanksgiving and the recognition of who God is? What would change in your prayer life if you restructured it around God's goodness first?
  2. Have you been unknowingly operating from a guilt-driven approach to God — presenting your sin before you present His greatness? What specific beliefs about God's character would need to change for you to approach Him differently?
  3. In what areas of your life have you been waiting for God to act while neglecting the prayer and acknowledgment that empowers the angelic help assigned to you?
  4. The prodigal son returned not because of guilt, but because he remembered the goodness of his father's house. What specific goodness of God have you forgotten to rehearse — and how might remembering it change your current situation?
  5. Which teaching in this sermon challenged your understanding most deeply — and what is one concrete step you can take this week to apply it?

Prayers and Declarations

Before praying for deliverance, Prophet led the congregation in the following strategic prayer:

"We are your people. What can we do without you? You are the one who gives us strength. You are the one who can deliver. We look to you. You are our hope and our salvation."
