Ordered Steps: How God Directs Your Path and Orders You Into Your Destiny
God does not lead you to comfort — He leads you through enemies, fire, and problems to establish you in the place He has prepared.
Every believer desires to walk in God's blessing, but few understand the process by which God actually establishes His people. There are two progressive levels through which God moves His children into their promised place: first, He directs your path — sending you toward problems that train and prove you — and then He orders your steps, compelling you into the fire of final purification before you possess what He has promised.
Teaching Overview
- You cannot possess what God did not give you.
- There are two ways that God establishes you in the blessing: He first directs your path, and then He orders your steps.
Key Distinctions
| Direction | Order | Inspiration | Envy | Problem-Solving | Problem-Discussion | Shadow | Light | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | God nudging you toward a destination through situations and encounters | God compelling you toward destiny — a command you cannot resist | Genuine celebration of another's blessing that stirs you toward your own | Bitterness toward another's advancement that masquerades as motivation | Addressing a problem with the resources and anointing you carry | Talking about a problem without a God-given solution for it | A preview of the blessing God intends to give you | The actual blessing and glory of God manifested in your life |
| How it feels | Confusing — you may not understand why you are in certain situations | Unavoidable — no matter what you do, you find yourself in that place | Produces joy and gratitude for others without strings attached | Produces bitterness when someone at your level is elevated | Produces boldness and compels you to act | Produces noise and commentary but no transformation | Appears great until you realize it is only a representation | Far greater than anything the shadow suggested |
| Who controls it | God sets up situations; you can delay but not ultimately redirect | God — you cannot resist or fight your way out of it | The Holy Spirit — it flows from a pure heart | The flesh — it reveals a heart not yet purified | The anointed — they are sent specifically to that problem | The unanointed — they speak to what they were not sent to solve | God — He releases shadows as foretaste and promise | God — the source from which all shadows originate |
| Result | You are trained, tested, and pointed toward your enemy and your throne | You are refined in the fire and positioned to possess your promised place | You become someone who celebrates others and is celebrated in return | You become unprepared for God's blessing and stuck at another person's level | You are elevated — those who could not solve it give you their resources | You remain in the wrong location, addressing what you were not sent for | You fall in love with a preview and miss the fullness of what God intended | You walk in the fullness of what God has prepared for you |
You Cannot Possess What God Did Not Give You
- Satan wastes people's time by making them look at other people and wish they were that person — this is not inspiration, it is envy.
- When someone who was on the same level as you is lifted and bitterness rises in you, that reveals envy that was already present within you.
- God does not want to repeat success — He wants to give you better success than anything you have seen Him do for another.
"Don't be distracted by looking at other people. And also don't be found not applauding other people. Because if you cannot celebrate others, you shall not be celebrated."
Shadows and the Greater Light
- What you have observed God doing for others is simply a shadow — a foretelling of what is about to happen to you.
- A shadow is not the light, but it represents the magnitude of the light — the greater the shadow, the greater the light.
- The danger is falling in love with the shadow and forgetting that the source of the shadow is the light itself.
"Don't fall in love with what is a shadow. It is just God foretelling you what is about to happen to you."
The Purity Required Before Promotion
- Before God lifts you, He takes you through a process of sanctification and purification to ensure your heart is genuine.
- A pure heart celebrates others without conditions — not because your turn is coming, but because you are genuinely happy for them.
- If you cannot celebrate others without asking "What about me, Lord?" you are not yet ready for God's blessing.
"If you cannot celebrate others, you are not ready for God's blessing."
The First Level: God Directs Your Path
- When God is directing your path, He sets up situations to move you in a particular direction — situations you may not comprehend at the time.
- God will direct you to your enemy first, not to the promise — so that when you become established, those who challenge you will remember the testimony of who you defeated when you were still small.
- Direction is not yet establishment: God is doing something with you before He plants you in the place He has prepared.
"When God is directing you, you will eventually be established, but there is something that God is doing with you first."
The Anointing Is Attracted to Problems
- The power of God — especially the anointing — is attracted to problems; if God does not send you to problems, He will bring problems to you to remove you from where you are.
- Those who are truly anointed do not discuss problems — they solve them; speaking about what you cannot solve is a sign that you were not sent for it.
- You have no business addressing what you do not have a solution for — God has raised somebody else for what is not your assignment.
"If you truly have the spirit of God in you, and God has anointed you for a situation, you don't talk about what you cannot solve."
Solving Problems Is Your Ticket to the Next Level
- David's encounter with Goliath was not the throne — it was the detour God used to direct him to the throne; Goliath was David's ticket, not his destination.
- What will differentiate you from those already holding power is that you will solve with fewer resources than they have — and this will cause them to bring all their resources to you.
- Stop running away from problems — the problem in front of you is your ticket to the next level.
"Stop running away from problems. That is your ticket to the next level."
The Second Level: God Orders Your Steps
- The second level of God's establishment is not direction but order — when God orders your footsteps, you are compelled toward your destiny and cannot resist it.
- When God orders your steps, you find yourself in the fire — not a fire you would have chosen, but a fire you cannot avoid.
- Joseph is the pattern: directed through his brothers, slavery, and Potiphar's house, then ordered into prison — and the prison was the step that led to the throne.
"When God orders your footsteps, you find yourself in the fire. You would not have chosen the fire, but you will find yourself in the fire."
Key Definitions
Direction — The first level of God's leading, in which He sets up situations and encounters — including enemies and problems — to move you toward your destined place; you can delay in this phase, but you cannot ultimately redirect it.
Order — The second and higher level of God's leading, in which He compels you unavoidably toward your destiny: "An order is something that you can't resist. An order is something that you are compelled — you cannot, even if you want to fight it, you can't."
Inspiration — Genuine celebration of another person's blessing that stirs you toward your own calling, flowing from a pure heart with no bitterness or conditions attached.
Envy — The spirit of bitterness toward another person's advancement that masquerades as motivation; it is revealed when someone on your level is elevated and something rises up inside you.
Shadow — A foretaste or preview of the blessing God intends for you, seen in what He has done for others; it is not the light itself but represents the magnitude of the light to come.
Anointing — The presence and power of God upon a person for a specific assignment; it is attracted to problems and compels the one who carries it to address — and solve — only what they were sent for.
Key Takeaways
- You cannot possess what God did not give you — chasing what belongs to someone else's assignment wastes the time and resources God has given you for your own.
- God directs you to your enemy before He directs you to your promise — the problem in front of you is not an obstacle to your destiny; it is the pathway into it.
- The anointed solve problems; they do not merely discuss them — speaking about what you have no solution for is a sign of being in the wrong location, not of having spiritual insight.
- Solving problems with fewer resources than those in power is what opens the door to greater authority — your victory in lack proves you do not need the machine; the machine will come to you.
- God orders you into the fire to purify you before you possess the promise — the fire you did not choose and cannot escape is the final preparation before God establishes you in your place.
Reflection Questions
- Are you genuinely inspired by the success of those around you, or does their elevation reveal envy within you? What does your honest internal response to another person's blessing tell you about the condition of your heart?
- What problem is currently in front of you that you have been avoiding or only discussing? Could this problem be the very ticket God has prepared to move you to your next level?
- Are you spending time addressing things for which you have no God-given solution? What would it look like to focus only on what you have actually been sent to solve?
- Can you truly say that Jesus is still Lord even if your blessing never comes — or is your faithfulness conditional on receiving what you are believing for? What does your answer reveal?
- Is there an area of your life right now where you find yourself in fire you did not choose and cannot escape? How does the teaching on God's order — rather than just His direction — change the way you see what you are going through?
Prayers and Declarations
Opening Prayer
"Father, we thank you in the name of Jesus, your Holy Son and your only Son. We thank you for your grace and your mercy that is eternally upon us. I thank you for your faithfulness, I thank you that you do not change. I thank you that you remain the same. I thank you Father that we will see your grace and your mercy upon our lives today."
"Jesus purify us and sanctify us all — Jesus that we may walk on the path that is not just good but the path of righteousness, that Father we may glorify you not only in this life but in the life to come. Father show grace and mercy today. Empower us today, O Lord, give us the ability to establish what you have desired for us in the name of Jesus."
"I pray for the person next to me. You know their heart's desire. Father, meet them today. Whatever burdens they're facing, whatever difficulty they're going through, Father you are aware of it. My Lord and my God, I pray — meet them at their point of need today. Give them solutions for their families, give them solutions for their faith, for their careers, for their business, and for their future. Heal every sickness, destroy every disease, and establish them in the center of Your will. May Your grace rest upon them, and may difficult things become easy. Father, I rebuke the devourer over their lives. And I decree and declare — the yoke of difficulty is broken. What takes man ten years, may they do it in a week's time. Father, I thank You that You are God alone. And You have done it."
Shake your neighbor and say:
"Father, give my neighbor a pure heart. Give my neighbor a pure heart. Let them not become haters when I become a multi-billionaire tomorrow."
Look at your neighbor and say:
"Neighbor, even when you feel like you are alone. Even when you feel like you are alone. Even when you feel like nobody understands you. Even when you feel like nobody understands you. Understand that God is with you. Understand that God is with you. And if He is with you, and if He is with you, you can never be defeated. You can never be defeated."
