Spiritual Nature: Born of the Spirit and the Power of the Breath of God
To become truly spiritual is not merely to believe in God, but to carry His breath — and wherever that breath goes, life must follow.
Everything that exists carries a spiritual substance, and every problem you face has a spiritual root. The issue is not what you do — it is what you think, and whether you have been born of the Spirit. When God breathes His life into you, you do not merely receive blessings; you become a creator of them.
Teaching Overview
- True spiritual power flows from being born of the Spirit — not from prayer activity, religious behavior, or belief alone.
- What makes a person spiritual or carnal is their thinking, not their deeds — because the mind is the engine of spiritual operation.
- The breath of God within you makes you a creator, not an attractor — giving life to everything you touch, speak over, and encounter.
- Satan's primary strategy is to reprogram your thinking so you no longer believe you are already blessed.
- When you are born of the Spirit, you carry the life-giving nature of God — and death, limitation, and opposition cannot stand in your presence.
Key Distinctions
| Spiritual | Carnal | Spiritual Prayer | Physical Prayer | Soul | Spirit | Angel | Spirit (Breath-bearer) | Law of Attraction | Law of Creation | Belief | Spirituality | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Being born of and animated by the breath of God | Being driven by the mind and desires of the flesh | Prayer that originates from a spirit-born nature | Prayer that originates from a carnal, unrenewed mind | The immaterial existence common to all created things | The breath of God that makes a being life-giving | A created immaterial being — not necessarily breath-bearing | An angel or being into whom God has breathed His Spirit | A philosophy that you draw good things toward yourself | The truth that those with God's breath create good things from above | Acknowledging God — good but insufficient for spiritual power | Being born of the Spirit and operating from God's breath within |
| Origin | Born again through God's Spirit | Unregenerate or unrenewed human nature | Born from the Spirit within | Born from the carnal mind | Breathed into all living things at creation | Exclusively imparted by God's direct breath | Created from immaterial substance at God's command | Made spirits when God's breath resides in them | Rooted in the idea that the world has good things to offer | Rooted in the reality that nothing good comes from the world — only from above | A human response to the existence of God | A divine impartation and rebirth |
| What it produces | Life, creation, authority, unpredictability like the wind | Enmity with God, negative thought-weapons, spiritual stagnation | Spiritual change — fixing things once and for all | Temporary solutions — a bandage on a mortal wound | Existence without the capacity to give life | Life-giving power — whatever it touches must come alive | Protection or delivery of messages — limited by class and assignment | The capacity to carry and impart the message and breath of God | Nothing — the world has nothing good to give | Created blessings, prosperity, authority over circumstances | A foundation — but not power or spiritual authority | The capacity to speak life, create reality, and discern the Spirit |
| Can it be lost or absent? | Yes — through unrenewed thinking and carnal dominance | Yes — through renewal of the mind and spiritual rebirth | Dependent on whether the person is truly born of the Spirit | Always limited — cannot reach the spiritual realm | Present in all creatures including rocks and animals | Absent unless God deliberately imparts it | Present by nature of angelic creation | Present only when God makes them spirits | Has no scriptural basis — false system | Real and operational in those who carry God's breath | Can exist without spirituality | Requires deliberate rebirth and renewal |
The Spiritual Root of All Things
- Everything visible carries a spiritual substance — nothing in the physical realm is sustained without a spiritual component behind it.
- 99.99% of human problems are spiritual in nature, not physical — physical solutions are bandages on mortal wounds.
- When you fix something spiritually, you fix it once and for all, because the schematics of creation are spiritual.
"When you fix something spiritually, you fix it once and for all."
Spiritual Prayer vs. Carnal Prayer
- Having many people pray does not produce change — it is those who are spiritual in their prayer who carry the capacity to change things.
- A person can be a Christian and remain carnal — belief in God does not automatically make one spiritual.
- Scripture distinguishes between praying in the Spirit and praying with the understanding because only those who can operate in the spiritual world carry true power.
"You can believe in God, it is good, it is not bad. But it does not mean you are spiritual."
The Devil's Spiritual Limitation
- The devil is a spiritual being, but he is carnal — he cannot perceive or locate those who are born of the Spirit.
- When Jesus walked the earth, the devil knew He was present in the city but could not locate Him without human intelligence guided by demonic influence.
- Being born of the Spirit places you beyond the devil's tracking — certain things can no longer affect you.
"When you're born of the Spirit, the devil cannot locate you."
The Mind as the Seat of Spirituality
- What determines whether you are spiritual or carnal is not your prayer life, your giving, or your seeking of God — it is your thinking.
- A carnal mind is an enemy to God; the spirit and flesh are in perpetual conflict, each seeking to dominate through the intensity of desire.
- Wherever your thoughts transmit is who you actually are — your deeds are only the result of how you think, not the source of your identity.
"What makes you spiritual or carnal is your thoughts. Not your prayer life, not how much you give, not how much you seek the Lord, not how much you do. It's your thinking."
God Examines Thought, Not Deeds
- God observes not what you are saying but what you are thinking — He examines the intent of the heart where imaginations, desires, and thoughts originate.
- In Genesis 6, God was not ultimately threatened by what Satan did in deceiving Adam and Eve — He was moved to action when the imagination of man became continually evil.
- You become what you think, not what you do — what you do is a result of how you think.
"You become what you think. You don't become what you do. What you do is a result of how you think."
Satan's Strategy: Reprogramming the Mind
- God has already declared you blessed — the reason you are not walking in blessing is not that the devil has blocked it, but that he has reprogrammed your thinking to disbelieve it.
- Repeated exposure to negative circumstances has conditioned many to believe blessing is future and uncertain rather than present and established.
- This reprogramming of the soul prevents spiritual birth and spiritual operation.
"Satan has put you through situations that he reprogrammed you to believe others can be blessed — maybe one day I'll be blessed. Not I am already blessed."
The Nature of the Wind and the Born-Again Spirit
- Jesus compared those born of the Spirit to the wind — unpredictable, unstoppable, and essential to life itself.
- No one can suppress the wind — when you are born of the Spirit, those who declare you will never rise will find they cannot put limitations on you.
- To be a spirit is to be breath, and breath gives life — you become a necessity to everything around you.
"They won't be able to stop you. To be a spirit is to be breath, and breath gives life."
Becoming Life, Not Just Receiving It
- God's purpose is not merely to give you life but to make you so saturated with life that those who are spiritually dead around you come alive in your presence.
- Wherever a spirit-born believer moves, like the wind, dead things are revived — life follows their steps.
- The Spirit of God has never been in a place where dead things remained dead — wherever He is, life is the only possible outcome.
"I want you to become so much life that those who are around you that are dead, that will come to life."
Speaking to Situations with Authority
- God commanded His prophet Ezekiel not to pray about the valley of dry bones but to speak directly to the bones — because the breath of God within the prophet was the instrument of resurrection.
- It is the breath of God deposited within you that, when you speak, is shared with everything you contact.
- Jesus did not say whoever shall pray against the mountain — He said whoever shall speak to it.
"It is the breath of God within you that when you speak, the life that is deposited within you begins to be shared with everything you come in contact with."
Soul, Spirit, and the Breath of God
- Everything God made carries a soul — a form of existence — but only human beings were created with the dual nature of soul and the breath of God's Spirit.
- Soul means existence; Spirit means to be made alive and to become part of who God is — these are not interchangeable.
- Not every angelic being carries God's breath — angels were created from immaterial substance, but God makes specific angels spirits by placing His breath in them.
"Soul just means existence. Spirit means to be made alive, to become part of who God is."
The Law of Creation vs. the Law of Attraction
- The law of attraction is false — the law of creation is real.
- The world contains nothing good to offer — anything good must come from above, from God.
- Those who carry the Spirit of God are not positioned to attract good things; they are positioned to create them.
"If you have the spirit of God in you, you're not there to attract good things. You're there to create good things."
Thoughts as Weapons — For or Against You
- God's word declares no weapon formed against you shall prosper — but the weapons the devil uses are formed by your own negative thinking.
- When you think negatively, you create a weapon that the devil then employs against you — he has never created his own arsenal.
- Job declared what he feared most had come upon him — his own thought life told the devil exactly what to do.
"When you are thinking negative, you are creating a weapon that the devil will use."
God Answers Thoughts Before Words
- God responds to what you think before you call on Him in spoken prayer — "Before they call, I will answer" refers to the thought, not the spoken petition.
- If God is responding to your thoughts, demonic forces are equally responsive to what you create through negative thinking.
- The enemies you perceive coming against you are often self-created — you are your own number one enemy, and you are also the one who can undo it.
"Before you speak your prayer, God is already answering your thoughts."
The Renewed Mind and Spiritual Advancement
- God is obsessed with the transformation of your mind because the mind is the engine that determines whether you operate in the Spirit or not.
- As you advance in the Spirit, you gain access to levels of perception, achievement, and insight that are impossible for the unrenewed mind.
- Even accidental utterances from a truly spiritual person carry power — what you speak in passing still comes to pass.
"Your mind is the engine that determines whether you work in the Spirit or not."
Key Definitions
Spiritual — A person or being that carries the breath of God within them, giving them the capacity to produce life in everything they touch, speak over, or encounter.
Carnal — Being driven by the unrenewed mind and the desires of the flesh; enmity with God — not determined by sinful actions alone but by the direction of one's thoughts.
Soul — The immaterial existence common to every living thing God has made, including animals, plants, and even rocks; it denotes existence but not the life-giving breath of God.
Spirit — To be made alive by the direct breath of God; not all angelic or immaterial beings qualify — only those into whom God has breathed His own breath.
Law of Creation — The operational reality for those who carry God's Spirit: they do not attract good things from the world but create them, because nothing good originates from the world — only from above.
Lust — As used in Scripture, lust simply means intense desire and is not inherently sinful; it becomes sinful when perverted into an insatiable vortex that can never be satisfied.
Key Takeaways
- True spiritual power requires being born of the Spirit, not just believing in God — belief is a foundation, but without spiritual rebirth, prayer remains carnal and cannot access the spiritual realm where problems are truly solved.
- Your thinking — not your behavior — determines whether you are spiritual or carnal — because the mind is the engine of all spiritual operation, renewing it is the most urgent priority for any believer.
- You are called to create, not attract — those who carry the breath of God do not wait for the world to give them something; they bring life into existence because the Spirit of God within them is inherently generative.
- Satan's greatest weapon against you is your own negative thought life — he forms no weapons of his own; he deploys the ones you hand him through unbelief and fear.
- You are already blessed — the transformation needed is in your perception, not your circumstances — God's declaration over your life has not changed; what must change is the reprogramming the enemy has done to your mind.
Reflection Questions
- If what makes you spiritual or carnal is your thinking — not your prayer life or religious activity — what does your thought life say about where you actually are spiritually?
- In what areas of your life have you been applying physical solutions to what is fundamentally a spiritual problem, and what would it look like to address those areas spiritually instead?
- Where has the enemy reprogrammed your thinking to believe that blessing is uncertain or future, and what specific declarations of God's Word do you need to embed in your mind to reverse that?
- Are you currently speaking to your mountains, or praying about them? What situation in your life requires you to stop petitioning and start commanding?
- If God responds to your thoughts before you even speak your prayer, what is the quality of what you are presenting to Him right now — and what would you need to change about your inner life this week?
Prayers and Declarations
Opening Prayer
"Father, we thank you in the name of Jesus that you are good. May your will be done today. May your spirit receive clarity and righteousness. Receive by your spirit today. May you fulfill your desire for our lives, Father. May today lift us up. May the name of your Son Jesus be glorified, Father. We thank you for your goodness and your kindness that will never change. Father, be glorified now. In Jesus name."
Prophetic Declaration
"The Lord says you are blessed. The Lord said your prayer shall be answered. The burdens you came with, as soon as your feet were set on this ground, He took them away from you. It took them away from you. You are already liberated. Now some of you caught it later, but I prophesied to you from the beginning. It has already turned around for your favor. It is already working for your good!"
