The Anointing (Chrisma): The Supernatural Amplifier That Breaks Every Yoke
The Anointing [Chrisma] · Part 1 of 3
The Chrisma of Christ is not oil poured from a bottle — it is the rubbing of a spirit, and everything in nature obeys it.
The anointing is one of the most misunderstood subjects in the Body of Christ. What is it truly? How does it work? Why does oil poured on a person often change nothing? The answers lie in the Greek word Chrisma — a transference of spirit, nature, and authority that amplifies everything it touches and destroys every yoke it encounters.
Teaching Overview
- The anointing makes you fat — it causes spiritual expansion, multiplication, and causes you to outgrow the place where you are.
- I'm going to pray for three things: I'm going to pray that the Chrisma upon my life will transfer to you. I'm going to pray that God will cause you to expand, to be fat, to outgrow where you are. Number three, I'm gonna pray that every yoke over your life to be broken.
Key Distinctions
| Anointing Oil (Sanctification) | Anointing of the Holy Spirit (Impartation) | Prayer | Declaration | Praying | Praying in the Spirit | House | Temple | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Physical oil used to set apart persons or objects | The Chrisma — the rubbing of the Holy Spirit's nature upon a person | Petition addressed to God | A spoken decree carried by Chrisma over a person's life | Verbal communication with God | Engaging with God through the spirit; not necessarily tongues | A limited spiritual dwelling that can accommodate only a few | A dwelling where all nations can come and benefit |
| What it does | Sanctifies — sets apart; does not impart supernatural nature | Amplifies, multiplies, breaks yokes, and causes spiritual expansion | Engages God but does not itself produce the anointing | Produces immediate supernatural effect through the Chrisma | Can provoke the anointing but does not equal it | Draws the anointing of the Holy Spirit upon a person | Contains the Spirit at a limited capacity | Carries a Chrisma from which many are blessed by proximity |
| Source | Human administration of oil | The Holy Spirit Himself, or transferred from God's anointed | The believer's own initiative toward God | The Chrisma resident in the speaker's spirit | The believer | The believer's spirit engaging God | Found in ordinary believers | Found in those upon whom the Chrisma rests in fullness |
| Can it change a life? | No — oil alone is just oil unless the Chrisma of the Spirit or the man of God is in it | Yes — it breaks bondage, causes multiplication, and drives out devils | Not automatically — many pray but things do not change because they lack Chrisma | Yes — a declaration with Chrisma produces results prayer alone may not | Not by itself | Yes — it can provoke the anointing | Limited impact by proximity | Transforms all who come into contact with it |
| Biblical example | Moses anointing Aaron and the tabernacle (Leviticus 8) | Jesus quoting Isaiah 61 — "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me and He hath anointed Me" | Sons of Sceva — they prayed in Jesus' name but lacked Chrisma | Prophet declaring deliverance over the congregation | General congregational prayer | Praying with the spirit engaged toward God | A person whose spirit can only shelter a few | Jesus — "Destroy this temple"; the widow of Zarephath hosting Elijah |
| 99 cent store equivalent | Oil without the Spirit's presence | Claiming the anointing without Chrisma rubbing off from the Source | Loud, performative prayer with zero Chrisma | Declarations spoken without the character of Christ | Shouting at God with no spirit engagement | Tongues mistaken for praying in the spirit without genuine spirit engagement | A person not yet grown into the fullness of the Spirit | A person who has received the Chrisma and become a source of overflow for others |
The Anointing Is an Amplifier, Not the Holy Spirit
- The anointing is not the Spirit of God — it is the product the Holy Spirit produces that carries part of His nature.
- The Holy Spirit can be in a person, yet without the anointing as a vehicle, the person cannot manifest what the Spirit desires through them.
- The anointing amplifies everything — intelligence, strength, voice, and every capacity in a person's life, including things that are not good.
"The anointing is an amplifier. The anointing is not the Spirit of God. The anointing is the product that the Holy Spirit produces that carries His nature, part of His nature, not all of it, but part of His nature."
Chrisma: The Rubbing of a Spirit
- The Greek word Chrisma does not mean the pouring of oil — it means the rubbing of one spirit upon another.
- The Lord Jesus was not anointed by any man; the Holy Spirit rubbed Himself against Jesus, enabling Him to preach the Gospel.
- A true prophet is not anointed by man — his Chrisma comes directly from the Holy Spirit Himself.
"Chrisma means the rubbing of my spirit on you. It's like rubbing something off you."
Anointing Oil Is Sanctification, Not Impartation
- When Moses poured anointing oil on Aaron, the tabernacle, and its vessels, he was setting them apart — not releasing supernatural nature upon them.
- Sanctification means to be set apart; it is distinct from both cleansing and impartation.
- Oil poured on a person is just oil unless the Chrisma of the Holy Spirit or the man of God is contained within it.
"When the Bible is speaking about anointing oil, it is about sanctification, not impartation."
The Anointing Transfers Through Proximity
- The disciples cast out demons before receiving the Holy Spirit because the Chrisma of Jesus had rubbed off on them through close proximity.
- Lot became wealthy not through his own spiritual walk, but because the Chrisma of Abraham rubbed off on him — and the moment he separated from Abraham, he lost everything.
- The anointing of God is located in a person's spirit, and those who spend time near God's anointed begin to manifest the same spiritual phenomena.
"Lot joined himself to Abraham and because of what was upon Abraham, the Chrisma of Abraham rubbed off on Lot. Lot started becoming wealthy... The moment he disconnected from Abraham, he lost everything."
Everything in Nature Obeys the Anointing
- When the Chrisma rests upon a person, not only demons but sickness, finances, career, and all of nature begin to respond and obey.
- The disciples could bless a tree and it would bear more fruit, because creation itself listened to those upon whom the Chrisma rested.
- Money obeys the anointing. Careers obey the anointing. Whatever such a person decides to do begins to obey them.
"Everything in nature listens to you and obeys you."
The First Work of the Anointing: Breaking Yokes
- Isaiah 10:27 declares that the yoke is destroyed because of the anointing — the anointing is the cause of yoke-breaking, not the result of seeking it in a crisis.
- When the Chrisma of Christ rests upon a person, curses reverse, insults are turned back, and blocked ways open by themselves.
- The Chrisma of Christ means bondage cannot remain — they will attempt to place a yoke on you, and it will break.
"When you receive the Chrisma of Christ, you can never be in bondage. They will try to put bondage on you, bondage will break. They will try to speak a curse on you, the curse will break."
The Second Work of the Anointing: Making You Fat
- The anointing makes a person fat in the spirit — meaning they outgrow their current location, expand their territory, and become giants in the realm of the spirit.
- Spiritual fatness is how yokes are broken naturally: as a person grows fat in the spirit, the yoke around their neck simply snaps off.
- Generational curses cannot be broken without this spiritual growth, because many lack the Chrisma that causes expansion.
"The fatness means you are becoming a giant in the realm of the spirit."
99 Cent Store Anointing vs. the Chrisma of Christ
- The sons of Sceva operated a 99 cent store anointing — claiming authority through Jesus' name based on what they had heard about Paul, not through Chrisma that had rubbed off on them.
- To speak the name of Jesus without Chrisma is insufficient, because the name of Jesus means "in the character of Jesus" — character that only the Chrisma can produce.
- Those who believe higher levels bring greater demonic opposition have not received Chrisma from Christ — what came from Christ cannot be challenged.
"The people who like to say, 'oh you know, the higher level you go, the greater the demons,' are people because they have not received Chrisma from Christ. They received it from 99 cent store."
Prayer vs. Declaration: The Role of Chrisma
- Praying in the spirit — engaging with God through the spirit — can provoke the anointing, but prayer alone does not equal anointing.
- Many people are loud in prayer yet carry zero Chrisma, because volume is not the evidence of the Chrisma.
- There is a fundamental difference between praying for someone to succeed and making a declaration over them with Chrisma.
"There is a difference between praying for somebody to succeed and making a declaration with Chrisma upon a person to succeed."
The House vs. the Temple: What the Anointing Makes You
- Not every believer is the temple of the Holy Spirit — some are houses, capable of accommodating only a few.
- A temple is a dwelling where all nations can come and benefit from the spirit resident within it.
- When the Chrisma comes upon a person, they transition from house to temple — so that anyone who comes into contact with them is blessed by reason of the anointing.
"The revelation church is not the building. The church is the people."
Giving as a Vehicle of Chrisma Connection
- Every transaction involves an exchange, and giving to God's anointed connects the giver to the Chrisma carried by that vessel.
- The devil has tremendously discouraged believers from giving because he knows that becoming a giver produces deliverance.
- The widow of Zarephath had the substance she needed to survive located inside of Elijah — her connection to the man of God through hospitality was the key that unlocked her endless supply.
"This is why the devil discourages people from being givers in the church. He knows the moment you become a giver, you get delivered."
Key Definitions
Chrisma — The Greek word for anointing; it means the rubbing of one person's spirit upon another, transferring the nature and character of that spirit.
Anointing Oil — Physical oil used in biblical sanctification; it sets a person or object apart but carries no supernatural impartation unless the Chrisma of the Holy Spirit or God's anointed is present within it.
Sanctification — Being set apart; distinct from cleansing (which addresses spiritual death) and from impartation — it is consecration beyond purification.
Amplifier — The functional role of the anointing; it makes everything natural become supernatural and increases every capacity in a person's life — strength, intelligence, voice, and all natural ability.
Fatness (Spiritual) — The expansion of a person's territory and spiritual stature through the anointing; the state of outgrowing one's current location and becoming a giant in the realm of the spirit.
99 Cent Store Anointing — An anointing that did not originate with Christ and was not truly imparted through Chrisma; an assumed authority that lacks the genuine character and nature of Jesus.
Key Takeaways
- The anointing is a spiritual transfer, not a ritual with oil — Understanding that Chrisma means the rubbing of a spirit changes how a believer seeks and receives the anointing.
- The anointing breaks yokes before trouble comes — When the Chrisma is already upon a person, yokes cannot hold; they are destroyed the moment they are applied.
- Spiritual fatness causes yokes to break naturally — Growing into the fullness of the Chrisma causes bondage to snap off, making expansion itself the mechanism of deliverance.
- Proximity to God's anointed transfers Chrisma — Connection to those who carry the Chrisma is a God-designed pathway to receiving the same spiritual authority and blessing.
- Giving is a vehicle of Chrisma connection — The exchange that takes place when a believer gives to God's anointed is a point of spiritual transaction that unlocks deliverance and increase.
Reflection Questions
- Are you seeking the anointing only when you are in trouble, or are you positioning yourself to receive the Chrisma before yokes are even placed on you?
- Who are you in proximity to spiritually — and is the Chrisma of what is rubbing off on you drawing you closer to Christ or further away?
- If spiritual fatness means outgrowing where you are, what area of your life have you remained too small in — and what is holding you back from expanding?
- The sons of Sceva used the name of Jesus without the Chrisma behind it. Where in your spiritual life are you operating from assumption rather than genuine impartation?
- The devil has worked tremendously to discourage you from giving. What specific act of giving have you been withholding — and what would change if you connected to the Chrisma through obedience in that area?
Prayers and Declarations
Somebody type the Chrisma of Christ upon me. I want you to type it strong, say it with boldness and as you're typing it, the Chrisma of Christ upon me.
Somebody just type:
"I receive fatness, I receive fatness, I receive fatness of the spirit."
I don't want you to just hear me praying, but I want you to pray along with me.
Opening Prayer
"Father, in the mighty name of Jesus. I thank you Lord for the anointing that is upon me. The anointing that you deposited in me from the day you brought me into this world. You brought me into this world to serve you and to be an extension of Your hand upon Your people. Lord, You put things in me as a treasure box for the sake of Your people. You have kept me all my life from my youth. To this day for the benefit of Your people. That Your people will grow into Your knowledge, that will grow into the understanding of the things of the Spirit, that they will be empowered because of what You deposited in me. Lord, I thank you for this great grace that You saw fit to use me for the sake of Your people. Lord, I am a servant to them. You sent me to serve them. Father, today I open the treasure box to bless each and every one of them wherever they are in the world, whether they are in Africa, in Asia, in Europe, in the north or south pole, wherever they may be. I open the treasure box today. And in the realm of the spirit, I join myself to every single person that is watching right now in the mighty name of the living Jesus. And I pray, oh Father, that what is in me shall come upon each and every one of them. I pray, oh Lord, that the anointing I rub off my spirit upon them. I rub off the Chrisma that is upon me upon them."
"I decree and declare now that every wicked spirit that has been plaguing their life will be broken in the mighty name of Jesus. Let deliverance begin to take place right now in the name of Jesus. Let every chain, let every power, let every sorcery, let every witchcraft, let every infirmity, let every single thing that raises above the knowledge of God in their life. I destroyed it. I scattered it. I dismantled it. This is a great, this is a great, this is a great, this is a great name in the mighty name of Jesus. I command the fire to consume every single thing that belongs to the enemy. I separate them from the enemy, from the wicked one, in the mighty name of Jesus."
"And I pray right now, oh Lord, that there will be change that will be evident right now. Now, not tomorrow, not next week, but right now, every nightmare, every sickness, every cancer, every arthritis, every tumor, HIV, whatever it may be. I remove them. I remove it from their lives in the mighty name of Jesus. Let no sickness be found in them. Let no demon be found in them. Not only do I bind every evil spirit, but I cast them to the pit now in the name of Jesus Christ."
"Every single thing that has been working against you, I declare deliverance now. I declare deliverance now, by reason of the anointing, by reason of the spirit of God, without deliverance. Be delivered. Be delivered. Let every witchcraft that you are fed begin to come out of you. Let everything you are fed in the dream begin to come out of you. Let everything that was injected into you, knowingly or unknowingly, come out of you. Let whatever you are fed that was from the wicked one come out of you. In the mighty name of Jesus."
