The Silent Killer: How Lust Is Destroying the Church From Within
Lust — the intense desire for anything other than God Himself — is the silent killer robbing believers of their inheritance, their peace, and their capacity to receive all that God has prepared.
Lust is not primarily a sexual sin — it is any intense desire that displaces God as the supreme object of your affection. God revealed to His servant that this silent killer is already at work in the church, preventing believers from being positioned to receive what He has stored up for them. The remedy is not striving harder for breakthrough — it is setting your affection exclusively on things above.
Teaching Overview
- Lust — defined as intense desire for anything other than God — is the silent killer destroying the church from within, operating undetected even among Spirit-filled, praying believers.
- Two encounters shape a believer's desire: an encounter with God produces an ever-growing, insatiable hunger for God Himself; an encounter with sin produces a void that can never be filled.
- When the desire for breakthrough, vindication, increase, or any earthly thing surpasses the desire for God, lust has taken root and God cannot release His blessing without facilitating destruction.
- God's vindication comes not through self-defense but through His sustained hand of favour — as demonstrated in the lives of Jesus and Joseph.
- The solution is to set your affection on things above, trusting God's timing completely, so that what He gives will never take you away from Him.
Key Distinctions
| Lust | Affection for God | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | An intense desire for anything other than God — including blessings, vindication, career, or possessions | A growing, insatiable hunger for God Himself — who He is, not what He gives |
| Its source | An encounter with sin; the natural disposition of the fallen nature | A genuine encounter with God that ignites desire that only deepens over time |
| How it feels | Like space is being occupied — but it is actually a void that grows | Like thirst for water — satisfying in the moment yet always drawing you back for more |
| Its effect on blessing | Prevents God from releasing His blessing; believers sabotage what God is doing | Positions believers to receive what God has stored up without being taken away from Him |
| Its effect on timing | Produces impatience, sabotage, and self-vindication | Produces trust, patience, and rest in God's appointed season |
| Its ultimate danger | Cannot be satisfied even in heaven — it must be purified out of the believer before eternity | Leads the believer into the fullness of eternal satisfaction in God's presence |
The Nature of God's Intentionality
- Every interaction God initiates carries divine intention — God is not an entertainer; every encounter carries purpose and transformation.
- Seeing the divine expression of God — whether God Himself or His angels — produces a complete shift in a person's values, priorities, and treatment of others.
- Zeal without spiritual maturity is foolish; God has never needed a defender, and those who have truly seen Him understand this.
"God is not an entertainer. Even though God can give you comfort pleasures, the Bible says at your right hand are pleasures forevermore… but never mistake God for an entertainer."
The Prophetic Word: War Is Not Coming
- God declared clearly: war is not coming — what is being heard is rumours of war, the beginning of birth pangs, not the end.
- Watch for 2029 as a year of escalation; in the near term, a false sense of security will descend and then be broken by terror attacks and instability within the country — not military invasion from without.
- God's hand remains on America, and anything that ultimately happens to her will mark the approach of the Lord's coming — not divine abandonment.
"War is not coming. God has bought you time."
"Militarily no one can contend with America right now because God's hand is on her, despite what people are saying."
The Silent Killer Defined: Lust as Intense Desire
- The word lust does not mean sexual desire exclusively — it means intense desire of any kind, which is why Scripture says the Spirit lusts against the flesh and the flesh against the Spirit.
- Lust is the natural disposition of the fallen nature; nothing on earth — no possession, relationship, or pleasure — can satisfy it.
- Lust is a void that feels like space is being occupied; it will not only take from you, it will take your life without you knowing it.
"The word lust just means intense desire."
"Lust is a void, but it feels like space is being occupied."
Two Encounters, Two Desires
- When you encounter God, you develop an intense desire — a lust — for God Himself that cannot help but seek after Him, dwell with Him, and burn only for Him.
- When you encounter God properly, that desire only continues to grow because God is eternal, meaning your appetite to know Him can never be fully quenched — only ever satisfied and renewed, like the perpetual thirst for water.
- When you encounter sin, the same mechanism of intense desire is activated — but toward a void that can never be filled and that will progressively consume you.
"When you have a proper encounter with God, that desire, that intense desire, only continues to grow. Why? Because God being an eternal God, meaning He has no beginning or end, it means your appetite to know Him also will never be quenched."
The Origin of Lust: The Enemy's Fall and Adam's Exile
- The enemy was anointed and given everything appropriate to his position in heaven, but sin was found in him — lust took hold, and that lust cost him both his place and his position because his focus moved from who God is to what God gives.
- God denied Adam and Eve access to the tree of life not as punishment alone, but because allowing fallen, lust-filled humanity into eternity would produce an eternal rejection of God rather than eternal communion with Him.
- God allowed physical death so that the soul could be purified, the spirit transformed, and a new body given — so that humanity may desire God and not merely what God gives.
"Lust cannot be satisfied by heaven. It must be removed from us."
Lust in the Prophetic Church
- The prophetic church is in particular danger: the moment the desire for breakthrough surpasses the desire for Jesus, the spirit of lust is present.
- Lust manifests as desiring increase over seeking God's face, prioritising career above the blessed Saviour, coming to God only for the sake of children or family rather than for God Himself, and needing public recognition to feel validated.
- Many believers have created idols unknowingly — and God cannot bless what lust rules, because He will not give something that takes His people away from Him.
"The moment the desire for breakthrough surpasses your desire for Jesus, the spirit of lust is in you."
"God will never give us something that will take us away from Him. God will not facilitate the enemy to destroy us."
Setting Affection on Things Above
- Colossians 3:1 commands believers who are risen with Christ to seek things which are above — this is not optional devotion but the defining orientation of the reborn life.
- Being born again and loving Jesus is not sufficient if your affection remains on earthly things; those who will be raptured are those who are actively looking forward to His coming.
- Affection on things above does not mean the rejection of material provision or comfort — it means that possessions, family, success, and reputation cannot be the object of your heart's desire.
"If the trumpet sounds, you will be left. Because those who will be raptured are those who are looking forward to His coming."
God's Vindication Over Self-Vindication
- Jesus never sought to vindicate Himself during His ministry or after His resurrection — His affection was entirely on the Father's desire, not His own reputation.
- After the resurrection, Jesus appeared only to those who were committed to Him — not to Pilate, not to the high priest, not to those paid to spread lies about Him.
- Joseph did not seek to vindicate himself before Potiphar or his wife — his vindication came through God's sustained hand of favour that elevated him above the very people who accused him.
"God's hand will stay on you. Despite what is said about you, God will keep moving you from glory to greater glory to higher glory to major glory."
"When we seek to vindicate ourselves, lust is ruling in us."
Key Definitions
Lust — Intense desire of any kind — not merely sexual. In Scripture, lust simply means an overwhelming compulsion toward something, which is why the Spirit lusts against the flesh and the flesh against the Spirit.
Affection — The settled orientation of the heart toward an object; what the heart is genuinely set upon, as opposed to what is merely claimed or prayed. Colossians 3:2 commands believers to set affection on things above, not on earthly things.
Void — The internal condition created by lust; it feels like space is being occupied, but it is an emptiness that cannot be filled by any earthly thing, any blessing, or even heaven itself — only God can fill it.
Encounter with God — A genuine meeting with the divine nature of God or His messengers that produces a permanent shift in desire, values, and priorities — an insatiable hunger for God Himself that grows rather than diminishes over time.
Vindication — The clearing of one's name or honour. God's vindication operates through sustained divine favour and the manifestation of His power — not through self-defence, public statements, or personal retaliation.
The Silent Killer — The spirit of lust operating undetected within the church — present even in praying, Spirit-filled believers — that prevents them from being positioned to receive what God has stored up for them.
Key Takeaways
- Lust is not primarily sexual — it is any intense desire that displaces God — understanding this exposes how lust can operate in a believer's prayer life, ambitions, and ministry without being recognised.
- An encounter with God produces a desire for God, not for what God gives — this is the diagnostic test for whether what you are experiencing is genuine revival or spiritual consumption.
- God cannot release His blessing where lust rules, because He will not give something that takes His people away from Him — the blessing is at the door, but it waits for the believer's affection to be on the Lord.
- God's vindication comes through sustained favour, not self-defence — attempting to vindicate yourself is itself evidence that lust is operating, seeking self-satisfaction rather than trusting God's timing.
- Those who will be raptured are those whose affection is set on things above — being born again is the beginning, not the fullness; the orientation of the heart determines everything.
Reflection Questions
- When you pray, fast, or come before God — are you truly seeking Him, or are you seeking what He can give you? What does your honest answer reveal about where your affection is truly set?
- Is there an area of your life — a breakthrough, a relationship, a career goal, a desire for vindication — where the intensity of your desire for that thing has begun to surpass your desire for God Himself?
- Where in your life are you currently attempting to vindicate yourself — whether publicly or privately — rather than trusting God to move on your behalf in His timing?
- What would genuinely change in how you pray, serve, and live if your daily affection were set entirely on things above rather than on earthly outcomes?
- What specific step can you take this week to reorient your heart toward God Himself — not His blessings — and to rest in His vindication rather than seeking your own?
Prayers and Declarations
Opening Prayer
"Father, thank you for your mercy, for your goodness. Thank you that you never change. You remain the same. We thank you, Father, that your love is beyond what we can understand. By your love, Father, you have shown your kindness, your progress, even to our souls continually. Father, we thank you that today we get to know you better. Thank you that today your hand gets to work in us through us and for us to become all your call us to be — glorify yourself even now Father in the mighty name of Jesus."
"Father in the name of Jesus. I thank you. For your mercy. Father, let the spirit of revelation rest upon me that I may know your ways, open my eyes, open the eyes of my understanding, that I may follow you in Jesus name."
"Father in the name of Jesus, you are proven to us that you are God. I pray Father that your word will be fulfilled, not only for our daughter, our sister, our friend, but for everyone else that is carrying a burden for their mother, their father, their sister, anyone that is sick. I decree and declare, by the authority given to me by heaven, by God's own might and strength. That whatever that situation is, it has been settled in the mighty name of Jesus. Whatever was a struggle, whatever was a battle, whatever was confusing, whatever was a battle — has been settled in the mighty name of Jesus."
"Let me pray for those who are home. God is sending you comfort. God is sending you strength. God is doing this because you have been waiting for the blessing, for the prophetic word that is spoken to you when you are praying, when you are crying unto Him, concerning your family, concerning your children, concerning your business and your career. The Lord said the time for delay is over. He is empowering you, strengthening you, to take over, to increase and to be expanded. I see — I'd spoken to you, receive it now in the mighty name of Jesus!"
