Thoughts of the Devil: Understanding the Spiritual Source of Every Thought
Thoughts · Part 3 of 3
Every thought originates from a spirit—either God or demons—and your thoughts determine your reality far more than external circumstances.
Every thought that crosses your mind originates from a spiritual source. The Bible does not teach that believers are destroyed by witchcraft, prayer alone, or external forces—it teaches that believers perish from a lack of knowledge. Your preservation depends entirely on receiving and aligning your mind with the thoughts God has already freely given to you through His revealed channels: prophets, angels, and the Holy Spirit.
Teaching Overview
- The primary means of spiritual communication is thought, not external words or actions.
- Every thought you receive originates from either the Spirit of God or a demonic spirit—there is no neutral thought.
- Revelation must precede manifestation; what God has not revealed cannot be made manifest in your life.
- Your preservation as a believer rests on knowledge of what God has revealed, not on prayer, fasting, or works alone.
- You become what you think, not what you pray—unless your prayers develop thought patterns within you, they remain empty.
- A prophet is a receiver of God's thoughts who makes them known to you; without angelic visitation and God's counsel, there is no true prophecy.
- Negative thinking is a sign of demonic influence; when you cannot see a way out of any situation, you are receiving thoughts from the devil.
- What God has freely given you through Christ is already paid for—your task is to receive it by aligning your thoughts with His revealed truth.
Key Distinctions
| Prayer | Knowledge | Revelation | Manifestation | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Speaking to God; verbal or mental petition | Understanding God's will and ways | God's unveiled truth about your future or identity | The visible, material appearance of spiritual reality |
| Effect on destiny | Empty if not accompanied by changed thinking | Preserves the believer and determines outcomes | Necessary foundation for all blessing and breakthrough | Impossible without prior revelation |
| Relationship to thought | Must produce thought patterns to be effective | Requires reception through the spirit within | Activates and transforms the mind | Results when mind receives and aligns with revelation |
| Source | You initiate; God responds | God gives it; you must receive it | God communicates it through His channels | God performs it; you must cooperate through belief |
| Role of faith | Faith without changed thinking remains inert | Cannot exist without knowledge of what God has provided | Faith is activated when revelation enters your spirit | Manifests when you comply with what God has revealed |
Thoughts as Spiritual Communication
- Every thought that has ever crossed your mind originated from a spirit—either the Spirit of God or a demonic spirit.
- There is no such thing as an independent, self-generated thought; you do not think in isolation from the spiritual realm.
- The primary means of communication in the spirit realm is through thought, not through words spoken aloud or physical actions.
"Every thought that has ever crossed your mind, it was a spirit speaking to you."
Satan's Method of Attack Through Corrupted Thinking
- Satan fell not through external action but through thoughts he built within himself: "I will lift up my throne above the stars of God."
- Witchcraft and external spiritual attacks do not work through force; they work by provoking you to think a certain way.
- Once you adopt the thought pattern the enemy provokes, you have already defeated yourself—the witch has gained control through your agreement with a lie.
"What witch craft does is it provokes you to think a certain way, because witch craft is manipulation."
The Transformation Power of Thought Over Prayer
- You do not become what you pray; you become what you think.
- Prayer that does not develop and transform your thought patterns is empty and ineffective.
- Unless your prayer activates new thought patterns within you, you have not truly prayed at all.
"You don't become what you pray. You become what you think."
Revelation and Manifestation: The Required Order
- If there is no revelation, there can never be a manifestation—what has not been revealed cannot appear in your material reality.
- Jesus Himself is the manifestation of God in bodily form, but only because He was God's revelation to humanity.
- Before God blesses you, He sends a thought toward you through His Spirit; you must receive that thought before the blessing can manifest.
"If there is no revelation, there can never be a manifestation."
Knowledge as Preservation, Not Prayer
- The preservation of a believer is rooted in what God has revealed, not in the volume of prayers, fasting, or religious activity.
- God's people perish not because they pray too little or fast too little, but because they lack knowledge of what God has revealed.
- When God delivered Israel from Egypt, He preserved them through a revealed mark (the blood on the doorpost), not through their prayers or their faith alone.
"The preservation of a believer is in what God has revealed."
The Role of the Prophet as Receiver and Messenger
- A prophet is simply a receiver of God's thoughts who makes those thoughts known to you in spoken or written form.
- There is no true prophet on earth who walks without an angel; any prophet who claims to operate without angelic visitation and access to God's council is a false prophet.
- When a prophet speaks God's word to you, they are not revealing something new—they are making audible what you could not hear in the spirit on your own.
"A prophet is simply a receiver of God's thoughts that he makes it known to you."
Foolish Zeal Without Understanding
- Many believers exhibit foolish zeal, attempting to fulfill God's word without understanding why God commanded it.
- Copy-pasting Scripture without developing your thoughts around it produces empty obedience that does not transform your life.
- Without a revelation of God's word, you will make grave theological and practical errors, even though you are sincere and zealous.
"You want to fulfill the word without understanding."
Negative Thinking as a Mark of Demonic Oppression
- There are many believers who are persistently negative, critical, and unable to see a way out of any situation; this indicates demonic influence in their thinking.
- It is impossible for a child of God to be negative; whenever you see a problem, you should see a way out because God is in you.
- When you can no longer see a way out of a situation, it means you are receiving thoughts from the devil, not from the Spirit of God.
"When you no longer can see a way out, it means you are receiving thoughts from the devil."
Reception as the Gateway to God's Blessing
- Your reception—your capacity and willingness to receive from God—determines whether God can bless you, not the enemy's interference.
- God does not go where He is not celebrated; He only speaks where He is honored and received.
- A miracle stops not because the devil stopped it, but because you lacked the capacity to receive it.
"Your reception can stop God, not the devil."
The Distinction Between Agreement and Receiving
- You can agree with something God has said without actually receiving it; true reception requires both agreement and compliance.
- Agreement is intellectual assent; receiving is spiritual appropriation that changes your life.
- Nothing from God can be received if you do not actually know it in your spirit and comply with it in your actions.
"You can receive things without agreeing... But nothing from God can be received if you don't actually know and you don't comply."
The Spirit of the World Versus the Spirit of God
- Those who are in the world have received the spirit of the world; Satan assigns spirits to people to shape their thoughts and control their destiny.
- When you come to God, you must receive not just the Spirit of God, but the spirits which are of God—angelic messengers who carry God's revealed truth to you.
- You cannot know what God has freely given you unless a spirit of God has visited you and imparted that knowledge to your spirit.
"Now we have received not the spirit of the world... but the Spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God."
The Freedom Already Paid For
- Many things you are fighting and working to obtain are already paid for through Christ's sacrifice and God's covenant promises.
- Your ears have not been opened to hear God's voice telling you what is already yours; this is why you remain in struggle and striving.
- The miracle you want, the deliverance you seek, the open door you desire—all of these are already paid for; your only task is to receive them.
"That miracle you want is paid for. You are trying to work for what is already paid for."
Every Thought Is an Unspoken Prophetic Word
- Every thought is an unspoken prophetic word because thought is the womb of creation in the spirit realm.
- When you think, you activate creation; you can never think or imagine beyond what already exists in the spirit.
- Satan knows he cannot create anything; he can only provoke you to think, then shape your thoughts into weapons against you.
"Every thought is an unspoken prophetic word."

Key Takeaways
-
Every thought originates from a spirit — You are never thinking in isolation; God and demons communicate with you constantly through thought, and your alignment with either shapes your entire life.
-
Revelation must precede manifestation — What God has not revealed cannot appear in your life; you must receive God's thought about your situation before the blessing or breakthrough can manifest.
-
You become what you think, not what you pray — Prayer is ineffective unless it develops new thought patterns within you; your thinking, not your words, determines your identity and destiny.
-
Knowledge preserves; prayer does not — Your preservation rests on understanding what God has revealed, not on the volume of your intercession, fasting, or religious activity.
-
Negative thinking is demonic — When you cannot see a way out of any situation, you are receiving thoughts from the devil; the ability to see solutions and possibilities is a sign of God's Spirit in you.
-
Witchcraft works through provoked thinking — External spiritual attacks do not force you; they succeed only by making you think a certain way, and once you adopt that thought, you have defeated yourself.
-
What God has given you is already paid for — Your task is not to earn or fight for what Christ has already purchased; your only work is to receive it by aligning your thoughts with God's revealed promise.
Reflection Questions
-
What negative, critical, or hopeless thoughts have you been entertaining, and can you now recognize them as coming from a demonic spirit rather than from your own reasoning?
-
Are you currently fighting, praying, or striving for something God has already revealed is paid for and freely given to you? What would change if you simply received it instead of working for it?
-
Which prophets, teachers, or voices are you currently sitting under, and can you verify that they walk with angelic visitation and have access to God's council, or are you receiving words from false prophets who have no connection to God's revealed truth?
-
In what area of your life has your thinking prevented you from seeing a way forward, and how would your situation change if you aligned your thoughts with God's thoughts about your future?
-
What specific thought pattern has the enemy provoked in you through circumstances, people, or media, and what is one concrete step you can take this week to replace that thought with a revelation of what God has already said about your life?
Prayers and Declarations
Opening Declaration
"It is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it."
Let the redeemed of the Lord say something.
"Father in the name of Jesus, we thank you for your mercy, your goodness, and your continual precious kindness that is beyond understanding. Father, we come before you we pray for grace, that you will reveal yourself amongst us, that Lord you will transform our lives tonight. We look to you because you are our hope and our salvation, Father, may your mighty hand be revealed. Show us who you are that we may know you as you desire to be known, O Lord. Elevate our spirits today, change our hearts and empower our bodies to fulfill the purpose you have said for us. Father, we thank you that tonight the Lord Jesus will be revealed amongst us and that we will be drawn closer to you. Thank you for lifting every burden. Every sickness that will be healed. And every door that will be opened. And every idea, business or whatever you have given us that will flourish because of this night. Father make the prophetic spirit go forth and glorify yourself. In Jesus mighty name and everybody said, clap your hands if you believe the Lord Jesus. Hallelujah!"
Find somebody you don't know. Hold their hands and you are going to take 30 seconds to prophetically declare over their life. Tell them they are healed, they are restored. Declare upon them five blessings that will come to pass this coming week. Tell your neighbour, you are the best prophet of your life.
"You are healed, you are restored. You are the best prophet of your life."
