Finding God's Will for You: Positioning Yourself in the Purpose of God
Opposition and adversity are not obstacles to God's will but divine instruments launching you toward your destiny.
God's will is not found through prayer alone—it begins by learning to listen to and follow a trustworthy voice. When you discover God's purpose for your life, you must understand that your struggles, mistakes, and even rejection are often the very mechanisms through which God accomplishes His assignment for you. The circumstances that appear to be obstacles are frequently the launching pad for your promotion.
Teaching Overview
- Knowing who you listen to is the foundation of finding God's will—a man who cannot listen to a man cannot listen to God.
- Samson was in God's purpose and will even when his choices appeared to be mistakes, because God's approval does not depend on human approval.
- There is a critical difference between being used by God and walking with God—partnership with God requires more than just carrying out His will; it requires alignment of your life with His purpose.
- Your circumstances, opposition, and even rejection are not signs of being outside God's will but are divine instruments revealing and launching you toward your destiny.
- When you are in God's will, whatever adversity He allows into your life serves a purpose—He has the ability to stop it, but He permits it because there is a reason and a plan.
- Your testimony and the battles you have fought become your assignment—without a story of struggle, there is no revelation of God's power and purpose in your life.
Key Distinctions
| Being Used by God | Walking with God | |
|---|---|---|
| Nature of relationship | God finds an occasion to accomplish His purpose through you | You are in partnership with God; your life is aligned with His purpose |
| Your awareness | You may not know you are being used; you may do good works but be disconnected from God's larger plan | You understand the connection between your calling and your identity; you move intentionally with God |
| Consequence if neglected | You may accomplish God's will but miss your personal destiny; you may lose your eternal reward | You fulfill both God's purpose and your own destiny; you inherit partnership with God |
| Example from Scripture | Samson—used by God to deliver Israel but lost his personal destiny through his choices | David, Abraham, Moses, Noah—walked with God and fulfilled both purpose and destiny |
| Eternal outcome | Many will say "Lord, Lord, we prophesied and healed in Your name," but God will say, "I don't know you" | You enter into the fullness of God's kingdom and reward because you were known by Him |
| Foundation | Receiving a gift or anointing from God | Knowing God personally and choosing alignment with His will above all else |
Jesus as God's Approved Messenger
- Jesus is a man approved by God through miracles, signs, and wonders—your responsibility is to pay attention to both His words and the capacity of God that lives in Him.
- Whoever received Jesus in His time lived; whoever rejected Him perished—the presence of God does not force anyone's attention, but the signs reveal who demands it.
- You must understand the signs that God is working so that you will take seriously what He is doing and saying in your life.
"Not only to what they are saying, but to the life of God that they have been given—the capacity to give to you."
The Importance of Knowing Who You Listen To
- Every path in life—including the road to purpose and God's will—has always been paved by somebody who will direct you.
- Following God is centered on a voice that you listen to, not on a prayer you make; when God answers you, He answers you by a voice.
- Who you listen to is the beginning and base of finding God's will in your life.
"Following God is centered on a voice that you will listen to, not on a prayer you make."
Listening to Man as the Foundation for Listening to God
- A man who cannot listen to a man cannot listen to God; obedience to a trustworthy man is the beginning of obedience to God.
- Without the presence and guidance of a man, you cannot find the presence of God—the young prophet Samuel served the Lord in the presence of Eli, and this is the pattern.
- Your level of obedience to a man you trust determines your capacity to hear God when He speaks.
"A man who cannot listen to a man cannot listen to God."
Samson: Mistakes and God's Purpose
- Samson was in God's purpose even when it appeared that he was not walking in the will of God; his parents did not understand that his choice to marry the Philistine woman was actually ordained.
- In every individual's life, we miss God's timing because of two things—our mistakes and our immaturity, or both together; the devil only finds an occasion when immaturity and mistakes create an opening.
- Even in your mistakes, if you are born to fulfill the will of God, you will do it in the will of God because God will not leave you.
"Even in our mistakes, so long as we are in the will of God, what appears to people as our mistakes is still within the will of God, and that is why God will continuously abide and be with us."
Being Used by God Versus Walking with God
- There is a profound difference between being used by God and walking with God; God may use someone to accomplish His purpose while remaining distant from them.
- When you are used by God, He finds an opportunity through you, but you may lose your personal destiny in the process; many prophets and teachers are used by God but do not walk with Him.
- Very few men of God on the earth are actually in partnership with God; many are simply found by God as an opportunity, but God does not know them, and if they enter heaven, it is by grace alone.
"Very few men of God working on the earth are actually in partnership with God. Majority of them, if they make heaven, it is by the grace of God."
Finding God in You: The Foundation of God's Will
- To find God's will for you, you must first find God in you—the Jesus that you received that lives inside of you, not an abstract enlightenment.
- When you find God, your life is centered in the purposes of God, not just in prayer, giving, worship, or tithing, though these are important.
- Finding God means understanding that even in your mistakes and shortcomings, if you are born to fulfill God's assignment, you will do it because God will not abandon you.
"To find God's will for you, you must first find God in you."
Your Circumstances Reveal God's Will
- Often times, your circumstances are the revelation of whether you are in God's will and whether you have found God; your situations are not random but are the highlights of how God wants you to walk it out.
- The story of Joseph shows that what appears as rejection and harm—being sold into slavery—was actually God's vehicle for positioning him to save his family and the nation that would bring forth Jesus.
- God uses every circumstance to create an opportunity, and what looks like destruction to you is actually God's design for your elevation.
"Often times, your circumstances are revelation of whether you are in God's will and if you have found God."
Opposition as a Sign of Promotion
- Whenever there is going to be promotion, opposition is the greatest indicator; opposition is tension on a bow—the more you are pulled back, the farther the arrow will go.
- Those who crucified Jesus glorified Him; His rejection was the vehicle for His elevation and the salvation of the world.
- Whenever people seek your destruction and circumstances arise against you, these are signals and signs pointing you toward fulfilling God's purpose.
"Whenever there is going to be promotion, the greatest indicator is opposition."
Opposition and Your Haters as Launching Pads
- Oftentimes your haters and those who undermine you are actually launching you to your destiny; rejection from people is often God's approval pushing you forward.
- Anyone who was approved by God was rejected by his own people; Jesus was anointed by God, yet His own brothers and sisters did not believe on Him.
- God allows people to fight you because you are the salvation of those people; whenever people are fighting you, it is because you carry something that will deliver them.
"Oftentimes your haters and those who undermine you are actually launching you to your destiny."
The Danger of Comfort and the Loss of Destiny
- When you are comfortable, you lose your destiny; the devil gives many of you so much peace in a job or situation that you lose sight of what God has called you to do.
- Many of you do not understand that you may have reached the highest position in a career, but you are not fulfilled because that was not your destiny—comfort becomes the enemy of purpose.
- Your faithfulness in difficult situations is actually the opposition that will launch you to your next level; Joseph's service under Potiphar was not his destination but the positioning for his elevation.
"When you are comfortable, you lose your destiny."
Focus on Jesus, Not Satan
- When you are doing good and opposition rises, stop talking about Satan; talk about the blood of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the angels of God, and the Word of God.
- Christians often think about Satan more than they think about Jesus; this shifts your focus away from God's power and toward the enemy's influence.
- Your attention determines your direction; focus on the Author of your faith, not on the adversary trying to distract you.
"When you are doing good and opposition rises, stop talking about Satan. Let's talk about the blood of Jesus."
David and Solomon: Battles Versus Peace
- David had battles and is great; Solomon had peace and is not great in the same way—David had 466 great battles and never lost a single one, which is why he is remembered for victories and elevation.
- Battles and struggles create the testimony and character that lead to true greatness; Solomon's peace made him small because he had no opposition to reveal and refine his purpose.
- The struggles you face are not obstacles to greatness—they are the very things that position you for it.
"David had battles and is great. Solomon had peace and is not great in the same way."
Rejection as Redirection and God's Approval
- Rejection from your parents or people is often God's approval and redirection; God pushes you out of one realm so that tomorrow you can be the one who preserves the nation.
- When people keep rejecting you, God is telling you, "I am pushing you out of this so that you can rise to your destiny"—rejection is redirection.
- If you want to understand the spirit of Joseph, understand that being fought in the house you are in, experiencing betrayal and rejection, is actually the mechanism that makes you recognize your destiny as a savior.
"God is just telling you, my friend, I am pushing you out of the realm of this so that tomorrow you can be the one that will preserve the nation."
Your Testimony Is Your Assignment
- Your testimony is your assignment; the very things you have been through—the streets, the failed marriages, the struggles—are the reason God wants to use you.
- Without a story, there is no revelation of God; rivalry brings forth revelation because whenever there are rivals, it reveals God's will, purpose, destiny, and intention.
- Your broken places are not wasted—they are the foundation of your authority to help others who have walked the same path.
"Your testimony is your assignment."
Every Battle as an Opportunity for God's Revelation
- Every battle that comes is an opportunity for God to prove Himself and reveal Himself; cancer was meant to reveal Jesus as a healer, depression was meant to launch you into a career helping others.
- When God gives you deliverance in a place, it is because He is lighting something that others will follow; your victory becomes their testimony and your healing becomes their hope.
- The events that happen around you are created to launch you to the other side; focus not on what you are going through but on what God is doing through it.
"Every battle that comes up is an opportunity for God to prove himself, to reveal himself."
God's Permission as Purpose
- When you are in the will of God, whatever God allows to come your way, He has the ability to stop—so His permission means there is a reason and a purpose.
- After God allows the enemy to touch you and take you through trials, God does not only restore you but gives you double; Job was restored, but God gave him double what he had lost.
- If you have not been pressed and crushed, you will not know what it means to wake up and pray; your brokenness is not without a purpose.
"When you are in the will of God, whatever God allows to come your way, He has the ability to have stopped it. He allowed it. It means that there's a reason and there's a purpose."
Purpose Through Adversity and Brokenness
- Because of the demons you battle and fight with, you are here and ready; as long as you remain in your comfortable zone, you do not seek God.
- Some of you are going through poverty so that you can love millions; your brokenness is not without a purpose.
- God allows suffering to shape you for the assignment He has for you; without adversity, most people would never pray, fast, or seek God at all.
"Your brokenness is not without a purpose."
Divine Purpose in Suffering and Blindness
- Jesus taught that a man born blind was not born blind because of sin—neither his nor his parents' sin—but so that the glory of God might be revealed through him.
- Stop blaming yourself for your circumstances—your ex-husband, ex-wife, your children, your situation; it is all designed to highlight the purpose of God.
- What you think is time wasted is actually God's preparation to show up in your life as an example for others.
"He was born like this so that the glory of God might be revealed."
The Origin of Purpose and God's Love Revealed Through Fall
- Sin started in heaven where there were laws; Satan's fall gave revelation to the purpose of God in the realm of angels.
- The fall of Adam reveals the love of God for the human race; where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.
- He who is forgiven much loves much—your fall, your failure, your deepest sin reveals the deepest love of God when you are restored.
"The fall of Adam reveals the love of God for the human race."
God's Way Is Different for Each Person
- God's way for each and every one of us is different; the deliverance of Israel could have been done many ways, but God chose the way that aligned with Samson's life and call.
- Because someone became a millionaire in crypto does not mean you will become one the same way; your path is designed uniquely for you.
- Your positioning determines your ability to see what will come; do not shrink in the presence of other callings—understand your own assignment.
"God's way for each and every one of us is different."
Authenticity Over Differentness
- Some of you are trying to be different for the sake of being different; the problem is not that you are different but that you are not being authentic to your path.
- Jesus was not trying to be different—His path made Him different; it was not His circumstances or what people said about Him but His path that put Him in a different place.
- When people met Jesus, they asked, "How come our pastor doesn't talk like you?"—not because He was trying to be different but because His path was different.
"Jesus' path made him different, not because he was different."
Your Positioning and Character
- Your positioning determines your ability to see what will come; when you are in the presence of others, sometimes it is best to listen and remain positioned rather than to be highlighted.
- When people see the blessing of God over your life, they think you have changed as a person, but the person has never changed—character remains the same.
- Your positioning is not about arrogance or humility but about understanding where God has placed you and what He is preparing you to see and do.
"Your positioning determines your ability to see what will come."
The Spirit of Fear and Divine Boldness
- There is a spirit of fear that has tormented many and caused them to lose a lot of things; fear makes you skeptical and unable to go all out in what God has called you to do.
- God has not given you the spirit of fear but of a sound mind; after encountering God's will, there is a spirit of boldness that enters you.
- With this spirit of boldness, you will be able to say no when you must and say yes affirmatively when you must; everything in your life that has been on standstill will be released.
"You will be able to say no when you have to. And be able to say yes. An affirmative yes when you have to."

I pray in Jesus' name that the Spirit of fear will be conquered. The Bible says that God has not given you the Spirit of fear, but the sound of mind. In the name of Jesus after tonight. There is a spirit that is going to enter you, which is the spirit of boldness. Courage. You will be able to say no when you have to. And be able to say yes. An affirmative yes when you have to. And when that happens, everything in your life that has been on stand still. I see it being released into your life. In the name of Jesus.

It has been released onto you. It has been released onto you. When it comes to you, we see it with courage and with excitement. It is yours. In Jesus name, Amen."
"Whatever it is you are believing God for, it has been released in Jesus' name. I said whatever you are believing God for has been released in Jesus' name."
