Many Are Gifted, Few Have Impact: Here's the Difference
The gift God places in you is not merely talent — it is a divine charisma that makes you irreplaceable in His kingdom.
God does not call the gifted and leave them unchanged. He calls, He refines, and He releases — but only those who yield. The gap between those who are gifted and those who have impact is not talent, effort, or even knowledge of Scripture. It is the charisma of God — the divinely ordained capacity to affect what you touch, move what you approach, and change what you encounter. This teaching confronts the assumptions that keep believers spiritually busy but powerless, and calls every believer into the fullness of what God has without repentance ordained for their life.
Teaching Overview
- God requires you to yield control of yourself to Him — you cannot perfect yourself; only He can perfect you.
- Perceiving God's voice and hearing God's voice are not the same thing — divine knowledge of God, not mere Scripture familiarity, is what enables you to discern between God's voice and the enemy's voice.
- The gift God places in you is not your talent or spiritual gifts alone — it is charisma, your divinely granted ability to have impact, and it is without repentance.
- Satan had an occupation, not a calling — and when the devil wants to destroy your life, he makes you occupied and pulls you away from your calling.
- Your thoughts are a spiritual language — demons respond to what you think, not only what you say, and your meditation is what you become.
Key Distinctions
| Knowledge of God | Knowledge About God | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Divine revelation of who God is — His nature, voice, and ways | Information about God drawn from Scripture, history, and doctrine |
| How it comes | By the Holy Spirit and divine inspiration — revealed, not studied into existence | Through study, teaching, and reading of Scripture |
| What it enables | Discernment between God's voice and the enemy's voice | Familiarity with biblical content and theological frameworks |
| Its limitation | Cannot be faked or substituted | The devil can quote and distort Scripture — knowledge about God alone does not protect you |
| Example | Peter's declaration — "You are the Christ" — was not learned; flesh and blood did not reveal it | The Pharisees were immersed in Scripture yet never recognized God when He stood before them |
| Perceiving God's Voice | Hearing God's Voice | |
|---|---|---|
| What it means | I can tell it is God | I know it is God |
| Level of certainty | Recognition — a sense that it may be Him | Confirmation — a settled knowing that it is Him |
| Its function | Opens the door to seeking His face | Produces confident, directed response |
| What happens without it | You are completely deaf when God is speaking | You cannot act on what you cannot confirm |
| Calling (Klesis) | Gift (Charisma) | |
|---|---|---|
| Definition | The divinely ordained function that no one else can fulfill | The ability to have impact with what God has given you |
| Who it applies to | Every person God has created with a divine purpose | Those on whom God has placed a charismatic anointing for impact |
| Can it be lost? | No — the gifts and callings of God are without repentance | No — it is without repentance |
| Satan's strategy against it | Make you occupied so you are taken away from your calling | Reduce your effectiveness so you become gifted but without impact |
| Example | Samson — ordained before birth for a specific national deliverance | The difference between knowing how to prophesy and being charismatic enough that what you say carries weight |
| Scripture | The Word | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The written record — good for doctrine, correction, and instruction | God Himself — "the Word became flesh" |
| Its power | Valuable for those walking in the Spirit who understand its place | Created everything; heals and delivers; is power itself |
| Its danger | "The letter killeth" — without the Spirit, it can kill; makes the law alive while you remain dead | There is no danger in the Word — it is life |
| Historical example | The Pharisees were immersed in Scripture — it never did anything for them | Before there was Scripture, there was the Word, and the Word is power |
| Misuse | Believing that knowing much Scripture makes you spiritual | N/A |
| Perfection Refined by God | Perfection Refined by Self | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Being made complete through yielding to God | Attempting to fix and improve yourself through willpower and self-effort |
| How it works | Requires yielding — giving control of yourself to God | Relies on the flesh, which profits absolutely nothing |
| Its outcome | God accomplishes what He desires in you | You will do it again and again — it produces cycles, not transformation |
| What is required | Surrender and trust | Discipline and self-management |
| Biblical grounding | 1 Corinthians 2:6 — wisdom spoken to those refined by God | The flesh profits absolutely nothing |
| Aid | Dependency | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A tool or support designed to help you function | A reliance that has replaced God as your source of capacity |
| Its proper place | Useful — it assists without replacing | Has crossed a line — it is no longer a friend, it is an enemy |
| Sign of transition | You use it but could function without it | "I can't do anything without it" |
| Spiritual implication | Freedom is maintained | Bondage has replaced benefit |
Yielding to God Is the Only Path to Perfection
- The flesh profits absolutely nothing — self-refinement produces cycles of failure, not transformation.
- God does not require you to arrive perfect — He requires you to yield so He can make you perfect.
- To yield means to take control of yourself and hand that control to God — until that place is reached, nothing else is significant.
"God wants to perfect you. You can't perfect you. I can't perfect you. The only way we get to perfection is if we can yield ourselves to Him. The key word here is yield."
Perceiving Versus Hearing God's Voice
- God is always speaking — the issue is never that He has gone silent, but that believers cannot perceive or hear Him.
- Perceiving and hearing are not the same: to perceive means you can tell it is God; to hear means you know it is God.
- If you cannot perceive His voice, you cannot seek His face — you are completely deaf even while God is speaking.
"God is always speaking. We don't perceive His voice or we hear His voice. Perceiving and hearing are not the same thing. To perceive means I can tell it is God. To hear means I know it is God."
The Knowledge of God Is What Discerns Every Voice
- The way to know if something is from God is not how peacefully it sounds or how beautifully it flows — it is how much divine revelation of God you carry.
- Satan can quote and distort Scripture — the Pharisees were immersed in Scripture and never recognized God when He stood before them.
- The knowledge of God is not knowledge of what Scripture says about Him — it is revealed knowledge of who He is.
"What makes you know the voice of the enemy and the voice of God is not how beautifully it sounds. It's not how peaceful you feel. The way you will know if it is God is, how much divine revelation do you know? Of God, not what is written about Him only, the knowledge of God."
The Father Reveals the Son; the Son Reveals the Holy Spirit
- Peter's declaration — "You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God" — did not come by study; flesh and blood did not reveal it, but the Father in heaven.
- The same Peter who received God's voice was used by Satan moments later, and could not tell the difference — because he could not decipher between the voice of God and the voice of the enemy.
- Each person of the Godhead carries a distinct revelation: the Father reveals the Son, the Son reveals the Holy Spirit, and there are things each is solely permitted to reveal.
"Only the father reveals the Son, and the Son reveals the Holy Spirit. The father reveals the Son, the Son reveals the Holy Spirit."
Calling Versus Gift — Klesis and Charisma
- A calling (klesis) is the divinely ordained, finely specific function that no one else on earth can fulfill.
- The gift (charisma) is not spiritual gifts or natural talent — it is the divinely granted ability to have impact with what God has placed in you.
- We have many gifted people but no people with impact — charisma is what separates the gifted from the irreplaceable.
"We have many gifted people, but no people with impact. We have many gifted people, but no people with impact."
Satan Had an Occupation, Not a Calling
- The gifts and callings of God are without repentance — God does not regret them and does not take them back.
- Satan never had a calling or a gift — he had an occupation, and when he lost his position in heaven, he began making up occupations as he goes.
- When the devil wants to destroy your life, he makes you occupied and pulls you away from your calling.
"Satan had an occupation, not calling. Because calling of God are without what? Repentance. Meaning God doesn't regret it and he doesn't take it back."
"When the devil wants to destroy your life, he makes you occupied and takes you away from your calling."
Greatness Is a Grace, Not a Skill
- Greatness is not a skill — it is a grace, and you are graced to be great.
- Grace will abound even where your mistakes are — it lifts you when you are falling and when you are missing it.
- No demon, no human being, and no accumulation of mistakes can stop what God has ordained — the gifts and calling have no end.
"Greatness is not a skill. It's a grace. You are graced to be great. And grace will abound even where your mistakes are because grace will lift you up when you are falling, when you are missing it."
Scripture and Power Are Not the Same Thing
- Knowing Scripture does not mean you are powerful — the Pharisees were immersed in Scripture and it never did anything for them.
- Do not confuse Scripture with the Word — the Word became flesh, the Word created everything, and the Word is power itself.
- The letter kills; the Spirit gives life — there are parts of Scripture that no longer apply under the new covenant, and only those walking in the Spirit will know the difference.
"Scripture, knowing Scripture doesn't mean you are power. Don't confuse the word for scripture. The word became flesh. The word manifests. The word created everything, not scripture. You have been lied to that if you have a lot of Scripture, you are spiritual, no, you're not."
Your Thoughts Are a Spiritual Language
- Demons do not only listen to what you say — they respond to what you think, because thought is a spiritual language.
- If you think dark thoughts, spirits of the same nature will come to you — you are speaking their language and you are inviting what caused them.
- As a man thinks, so he is — not as a man prays; you can pray all the right things, but if your mind is in the gutter, you will end up in the gutter.
"Don't obsess on outcomes. What you think on is sin spiritually. If you think dark thoughts, spirits of the same nature will come to you. That is why the Bible tells you, meditate on everything that is good of anything that is of good report on such things because your meditation is what you become."
The Soul Is the Most Vulnerable Battlefield
- The soul is fragile — what you consume, watch, and meditate on either builds or destroys it.
- When the devil gets a hold of your mind, you are no longer fighting only a demon — you are fighting yourself, and the soul cannot be bound; it must go through process.
- Most people in the church are not demonised — they are dealing with broken, fragmented souls, and that requires healing, discipleship, and a change of thinking.
"When the devil wants to destroy you, he knows if he touches your mind and he gets a hold of it. You're done. The soul is so fragile."
"Guard your mind. Don't entertain bad news. Don't entertain bad reports. Don't look for the worst news you can find. If it doesn't grow you, benefit you, put money in your account, leave it alone."
Key Definitions
Yield — To take control of yourself and give that control entirely to God; the only posture through which God can bring you to perfection.
Klesis (Calling) — The finely and divinely ordained specific function that God created you to fulfill — one that no one else can do.
Charisma (Gift) — Not talent or spiritual gifts in the ordinary sense, but your divinely granted ability to have impact with what God has placed in you — the quality that makes the gifted irreplaceable.
Perceiving God's Voice — The capacity to recognize that it is God speaking — to sense or discern that the voice may be His, without yet having full confirmation.
Hearing God's Voice — A settled knowing that it is God — beyond recognition into certainty, from which one can act with confidence.
Knowledge of God — Not information about God gathered from reading Scripture or studying history, but divine revelation of who He is — His nature, His character, and His ways — imparted by the Spirit.
Occupation (vs. Calling) — A role or function one fills without divine mandate — what Satan had in heaven. An occupation can be abandoned, corrupted, or fabricated. A calling is without repentance.
Key Takeaways
- Yielding to God is the only path to perfection — self-refinement relies on the flesh, which profits nothing; only surrender to God produces transformation.
- The knowledge of God — not knowledge about God — is what protects you from deception — the enemy can use Scripture; only revelation of God Himself can discern His voice from the enemy's.
- The gift (charisma) is your ability to have impact, and it is without repentance — God does not take it back, no demon can stop it, and it is this charisma, not talent alone, that makes you irreplaceable in His kingdom.
- Satan had an occupation, not a calling — he is making up jobs as he goes, and his strategy against you is to keep you occupied and away from your God-ordained function.
- Your thoughts are a spiritual language — demons hear what you think — meditating on darkness invites spirits of that nature; guarding your mind is not optional, it is the most essential spiritual discipline.
Reflection Questions
- In what areas of your life are you still trying to perfect yourself through self-effort, rather than yielding that area fully to God?
- How much of what you call "hearing God" is actually perceiving — a sense it might be Him — compared to a settled knowing? What would it take to move from perceiving to hearing?
- When the enemy has spoken to you through Scripture, a feeling of peace, or someone close to you — were you able to discern it? What does your answer reveal about your current knowledge of God versus knowledge about God?
- Are you operating in your calling — the function God ordained that no one else can fill — or have you been made occupied with things that are not your klesis? What has kept you away from your true assignment?
- What thoughts do you repeatedly return to that are actually dark, fearful, or failure-oriented — and what spiritual realities might those thoughts be inviting into your life?
Prayers and Declarations
Opening Prayer
"Father, we thank you. Your name is glorified. Your name is glorified among your people. Father, we thank you for your goodness, your kindness, we thank you that you do not change. We thank you all Father that you are mercy and your forgiveness is upon us. We thank you Father for the blood of Jesus, but because of the blood of Jesus we can stand before you. And by reason of that blood we are called your children. Father today we receive every single thing you have for us. Father accomplished what you desire in us in the mighty name of Jesus."
"Save father perfect me today. Father perfect me today. Holy Spirit perfect me today. Father perfect me today. Holy Spirit perfect me today. There is no one perfect but Jesus. Your words says that our righteousness is but filthy rags. With your perfect word, make us perfect today. A line of thoughts with your perfect word, make us perfect today, O Lord. Make us perfect today, O Lord. Make us perfect today, O Lord. You are the blemishless lamb. There is no one perfect like you."
Say this after me:
"Father, use my children. Father, use my seat. Father, use my seat. Father, use my seat. In the mighty name of Jesus."
"Every spiritual husband in this room or those who are watching online, I bind you. And I remove you out of that man, out of that woman's spiritual husband's spiritual wife, in the mighty name of Jesus."
"Unclean spirit, leave his skin. Leave his body. And never come back again. I command you. May his skin be like that of an infant, healed and whole, never come back again. Thank you Holy Spirit. The eczema stops today. It will stop today in the mighty name of Jesus."
"I curse this thing. I curse this thing. I curse it. What disease causes you discomfort and pain in your body? His curse in Jesus' name. Arthritis is his curse. Pain is cursed. It will leave your body and never come back again. Now in Jesus' name."
"Father, I thank you for what you have done and what you have accomplished amongst us in the name of Jesus."
