Satan, the Spirit of Death, and the Power to Choose Life

Satan, the Spirit of Death, and the Power to Choose Life

Teaching by Prophet Lovy L. Elias · Watch on YouTube · 21 September 2022

Death is not the devil's weapon — it is God's transition, and understanding this truth is the key to living without fear.

The devil has been given far more power than he actually possesses. When believers understand the true nature of death — not as an ending but as a transition — they are liberated from the greatest weapon Satan wields: fear. This teaching dismantles the lie that Satan controls life and death, and establishes that God alone gives and takes life, while Christ has already secured an eternal future for every believer.

Teaching Overview

  1. Every trial and tribulation tells us that this world is not our home.
  2. Every trial and tribulation tells us that this world is temporary.

Spiritual Protocols and the Foundation of Knowledge

  • Christianity is not merely about prayer — there are protocols of the Spirit that even prayer must be offered within.
  • Praying the wrong prayer at the wrong time is not simply a matter of sincerity; offering the wrong offering can result in rejection by God.
  • Knowledge is the entry point to victory — ignorance is why people perish.

"When you understand the inner working of things, life becomes much easier, and your work with God becomes better."

"To know is already to have victory. To know is to already enter into victory."

God Alone Holds the Rights to Life

  • Anyone who gives something has ownership of it and the power to take it — only God gives life, so only God has the right to take it.
  • The devil has never killed anyone because he has never given life; he can lead a person toward an early death, but the power itself does not belong to him.
  • God does not kill — God takes only what is His.

"The devil can lead you to an early death, but the devil has never actually killed anyone."

"The only one that has rights to life is God."

The True Nature of Death

  • Death is not the absence of breathing — just because something is moving does not mean it is alive.
  • For the world, death is the end; for the believer, God does not use the language of death but of sleep, because it is a transition.
  • Death is the migration from one dimension to another — it was not created by Satan, and through one man it entered the world.

"For the world, death is the end. For us, it is not death. It is called sleep."

"Death is a transition. It is the migration from one dimension to another dimension."

The Devil's Dead Nature and Limited Power

  • The devil was found with iniquity at the very beginning — iniquity is not merely the act of sin but what lingers after it; Satan has never truly lived, only existed in death.
  • Because the devil is already dead, everything he offers is void of life — nothing about him has a future, nothing about him has a tomorrow.
  • Death cannot exist where life is, which is why Satan was expelled from heaven.

"Anything the devil offers you, anything the devil gives you, can never give life because he is already dead."

The Three Ways a Man Dies

  • There are three ways a man dies: God's ordained time, which He calls sleep; a man choosing to set up his own time; and a man deceived by Satan into death before his time.
  • Believers have empowered the devil by giving him permission — his power over death is only as real as the authority the believer concedes to him.
  • God is a life-giving Spirit; God does not kill — God takes.

"Many of believers have empowered the devil by giving them permission."

The Spirit of Death Defined

  • There is no spirit of death as an independent entity — a search of Scripture will never yield such a being.
  • What is called the spirit of death describes those who have chosen to have no future — death, in this sense, is the absence of a tomorrow.
  • The master plan of Satan is to bring every person to his side, where there is no future, no tomorrow, and no hope.

"If you search the Bible, you will never see the Spirit of death."

"When we speak of the spirit of death, we are talking about those who have chosen to have no future."

Temptation Versus Testing

  • Temptation carries an evil intent — it does not come from God and is always an opportunity for the devil to position you toward death.
  • Testing comes from God and is not designed to make you fall — it is designed to prove that you have learned and are ready to graduate.
  • The reason believers confuse temptation and testing is ignorance of the lessons God is giving them — when testing comes, it is promotion day.

"Whenever you see temptation, understand that Satan is trying to put you in the place of death."

"Whenever you see testing, understand that God is trying to promote you."

Signs, Wonders, and Deception

  • A sign is a direction — it points somewhere; a wonder is something shocking that a sign leads you to.
  • False prophets produce signs that lead people away from God and toward themselves; they never do anything life-giving, only things that cause idolisation.
  • Deception is not the art of lying — it is the art of making you believe that almost truth is truth.

"Deception is almost truth. It is not a lie, but it is almost truth."

The Choice Between Life and Death

  • Choosing to give up because of rejection, loss, divorce, or lack is choosing death — choosing to have no future.
  • Jesus Christ paid the price for every believer's future to be certain; the same mistake Satan made must not be repeated.
  • Fear always produces death because it is rooted in the belief that there is no tomorrow; a sound mind causes you to see the will and purposes of God fulfilled in your life.

"Jesus Christ paid the price for your future to be certain."

"Do everything in your power to reject death. For the Lord has not given us the spirit of fear."

Faith, Hope, and Eternal Life

  • Faith is the ability to see beyond what is material — it gives assurance that God is not finished and that there are still things to do.
  • The moment someone begins to believe they will not make it, they do not make it; the moment someone walks in hope, the scales over their eyes begin to lift.
  • For those in Christ, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord — even physical death does not end in death for the believer.

"This is why the moment somebody starts believing that they are not going to make it, they don't make it."

"To live is Christ to die is gain because it's still the future."

Key Definitions

Spiritual Protocols — The established order and conditions within which spiritual activity, including prayer, must operate; understanding these protocols determines whether one's offering or prayer is accepted or rejected by God.

Spirit of Death — Not a literal entity found in Scripture, but a condition describing those who have chosen to have no future; it is the state of existing without hope, forward movement, or tomorrow.

Death (for the believer) — A transition — the migration from one dimension to another; God refers to it as sleep, not as an ending, because it leads the believer into the presence of the Lord.

Temptation — An act with evil intent originating from Satan, designed to position a person toward death — toward a place of no future, no tomorrow.

Testing — An act originating from God, designed not to cause failure but to prove that a believer has learned and is ready for promotion and graduation to the next level.

Deception — Not outright lying, but the presentation of almost truth as if it were full truth; it is the primary tool Satan uses to cause people to justify themselves and choose death.

Iniquity — Not merely the act of sin itself, but what lingers after the act is committed; iniquity was found in Satan at the very beginning, making him dead before he ever truly began.

Key Takeaways

  • Spiritual knowledge is the entry point to victory — ignorance of how God's Spirit operates is the reason believers perish; knowing the protocols of God puts you ahead of every scheme of the enemy.
  • Satan has no power over life because he has never given life — believers who fear the devil in matters of life and death have given him authority he was never granted; the power to give and take life belongs exclusively to God.
  • Death for the believer is a transition, not a termination — understanding this removes the devil's greatest weapon, which is the fear of death, and reorients the believer toward an eternal future.
  • Temptation is Satan's attempt to recruit you into his deathless future; testing is God's invitation to graduate — discerning the difference determines whether a trial becomes a trap or a promotion.
  • Faith is the weapon against the spirit of death — the moment hope is abandoned and a future can no longer be seen, death sets in; maintaining faith keeps the believer in the realm of life, regardless of outward circumstances.

Reflection Questions

  1. In what area of your life have you been agreeing with death — treating a situation as having no future — and what would it look like to reject that agreement and choose life in Christ instead?
  2. Looking at your current trials, are you sitting under testing designed to promote you, or are you allowing Satan to use those trials as temptation to draw you toward hopelessness? What evidence supports your answer?
  3. Where has "almost truth" — deception dressed as wisdom or reason — caused you to justify a choice that is leading you away from God and toward death?
  4. Whose signs are you following? Does the spiritual influence in your life — the voices, platforms, and leaders you sit under — point you toward Jesus, or toward the messenger?
  5. What specific act of faith can you take this week to remove the scales from your eyes and begin to see the future God has prepared for you, rather than the dead end Satan has been presenting?

Prayers and Declarations

Type in the comments: "God is not done with me."

"God is not done with me. God is not done. Even in eternity, He will not be done. Because the absence of God is the lack of a future. If we will live forever, it is because of Him."

Closing Prayer

"By the messes of our God. By the grace of our great God. That God will touch you, will touch your family, will touch everyone and everything that has to do with you. That God will remove the death consciousness in you. That God will remove the consciousness of death from you, from your children, from your loved ones, that death will never be your portion. The devil lied to you to make you think he has the power of our life. No, he doesn't. No one controls life except God. It is God who has the power to give life and it is God who has the power to take life. And if it is God who is giving and taking life, then the devil has nothing to do with it."
