The Anointed and the Prophets: Covenant Protection, Assignment, and the Power of Secrecy
Your divine immunity is not automatic — it is activated by remaining within your God-given assignment.
Destruction among believers is not caused by the enemy's strength — it is caused by a lack of knowledge. God has established a covenant that protects those who are His, and that covenant operates as law. But that protection is conditional: it covers you within your assignment and withdraws the moment you step outside of it.
Teaching Overview
- Don't abandon your assignment
- Do not disclose your assignment
Key Distinctions
| Truth | Knowledge | Prophet (Ordained) | Anointed | Assignment | Outside Assignment | Narrow Path | Wide Way | Within Covenant | Outside Covenant | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | The reality of Christ and His work | Understanding that deepens truth | A divine ordination — sent by God to the church | A divine appointment — operating within the church body | The specific God-given mandate that carries His covering | Activity pursued beyond or apart from that God-given mandate | The path of life walked with Jesus holding your hand | The path of self-directed living that leads to destruction | Operating under God's active defense and diplomatic immunity | Operating without God's supernatural protection |
| Who defines it | God — "I am the way, the truth and the life" | The believer's pursuit and study | God — no human anoints a prophet | God — pre-ordained before birth | God — assigned before calling | Self — chosen by personal will or misdirection | Jesus — "take my yoke upon yourself, for it is lighter" | The spirit of disobedience working in those of the world | God — established through covenant, oath, and law | The believer — by stepping beyond God's assignment |
| Example | Jesus as Lord and Savior | Understanding how Christ died and took on sin | Elijah, Abraham — fathers ordained by God | Isaac, Jacob — anointed offspring | John the Baptist announcing Jesus' coming | John the Baptist confronting Herod's marriage | "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want" | Living under the rulers and spirit of this world | Abraham in Egypt — God defended him despite his lie | John the Baptist confronting Herod — left his assignment and was beheaded |
| What happens when neglected or violated | Believers perish for lack of understanding | Christians struggle with sin they have no framework to overcome | Fighting a prophet = fighting God | Harming the anointed triggers covenant judgment | Loss of divine defense, unnecessary battles | Exposure to enemy attack — Samson, John the Baptist | Believers face needs they should never have had | Perpetuates bondage under the power of the air | Pharaoh cursed; Job's friends cursed; enemy defeated | The anointed fall; finances fail; sickness enters; growth stops |
The Destruction That Comes From Lack of Knowledge
- Destruction, suffering, and shortcomings among believers are consistently tied to an absence of knowledge — not the absence of truth.
- The pursuit of truth and the pursuit of knowledge are not the same thing — truth is the foundation, but knowledge deepens and activates that truth.
- A Christian struggling with sin lacks not the truth of righteousness but the knowledge of righteousness — information alone does not transform.
"Knowledge deepens the truth that you have."
The Distinction Between the Ordained and the Anointed
- A prophet sent to the church is ordained by God — no human anointing is required or conferred upon him.
- A prophet within the church is anointed — operating under a different class and covering.
- Elijah and Abraham were not anointed — they were fathers, ordained by God, whose offspring carried the anointing: Isaac was pre-ordained, Jacob was anointed.
"A prophet is ordained, he is not anointed. A prophet sent to the church is ordained. A prophet in the church is anointed. There's a big difference."
The Covenant That Cannot Be Overridden
- Every anointing, appointment, and ordination operates within the bounds of a covenant — an anointing that cannot defend you is outside the confines of a covenant.
- God remembers His covenant to a thousand generations — what He established thousands of years ago, He is still performing now.
- The Abraham-Pharaoh account demonstrates that God protects covenant people even when they are in the wrong — Pharaoh was guilty in God's sight despite being deceived, and Abraham left Egypt wealthier than he entered.
"You are interfering with something that is beyond his mistake. God was ready to destroy a man for being deceived. Yet the deceiver is not being touched."
The Progression of Covenant — From Promise to Law
- God's covenant with a person progresses: it begins as a covenant, advances to an oath, then becomes confirmed as law.
- Once it becomes law, violating what God has established over a person is not a personal offense — it is a crime against God.
- The progression seen in Psalm 105 — covenant with Abraham, oath to Isaac, law confirmed to Jacob, everlasting covenant with Israel — shows how divine protection intensifies with each generation.
"When God appoints somebody, it progresses. And it becomes a law over somebody. Now it is a crime to go against what God has done on them or what God has performed on them."
Diplomatic Immunity — The Identity of the Covenant Believer
- Believers operating within their God-given assignment possess diplomatic immunity — they are messengers of God, belonging to another kingdom.
- When a diplomat violates the law of another nation, they are returned to their own government — they do not suffer the public consequences others face.
- Divine protection is not based on the believer being morally perfect — it is based on their covenant standing and assignment.
"You're not meant to suffer other people's consequences. You are a diplomat. You are a messenger of God on earth. You should have immunity here."
Why the Anointed Fall — The Danger of Leaving Your Assignment
- The most dangerous person is one who is within their assignment — stepping outside of it removes supernatural protection.
- John the Baptist's death was not a spiritual failure of the covenant — it was the consequence of abandoning his assignment of announcing Jesus and entering marriage counseling he was never called to do.
- Herod remained married to the same woman after John's death — nothing changed, confirming that John's correction was outside his mandate.
"His calling was real. The prophecy was true. He did kill his brother and take his wife. But that was not a correction God was going to use him to bring. Notice he died. Herod was still married to the same woman. Nothing changed in Herod's life."
The Narrow Path Is the Easiest Path
- The narrow path does not mean difficulty — it means choosing uprightness and allowing God to walk you through it.
- The wide way is easy because it permits self-direction — but self-direction places a person under the rulers of this world and the spirit of disobedience.
- "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want" is the only path on which the believer will have no unmet needs — on the wide way, the believer must figure everything out alone.
"The narrow path is not difficult; it is the easiest path. The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want — that's the only path that you will not want, you will not have needs. He will lead you. On the other path you have to figure it out."
Do Not Disclose Your Assignment
- The enemy cannot fight what he does not know — secrecy over your assignment is a strategic defense.
- When people are given proximity to your calling, they can construct narratives that damage and redirect you.
- The moment you share what God gave you with those not appointed to carry it, the enemy gains access to talk you out of what God talked you into.
"Don't give people proximity. Be secretive with what God gave you. Whatever it is that God gave you, be secretive with it."
Key Definitions
Knowledge — Understanding that deepens and activates truth; not the same as receiving information or hearing a principle preached — it is the depth of comprehension that enables a believer to operate in what they have received.
Truth — The foundational reality of Christ and His work; Jesus Himself is the truth — "I am the way, the truth and the life."
Covenant — A binding agreement between God and a person that progresses from a personal promise, to a sworn oath, to confirmed law — and once established as law, it is a crime for anyone to violate what God has done.
Ordained — Divinely sent and appointed by God to a specific office or mission — not conferred by human hands; Elijah and Abraham were ordained, not anointed.
Anointed — Divinely appointed within the body; carries a covenant covering that God defends with supernatural force — "do not touch my anointed."
Assignment — The specific God-given mandate a believer is called to fulfill; it is the source of their divine protection, and stepping outside of it removes that covering.
Diplomatic Immunity — The covenant protection that covers a believer who is within their assignment; they belong to another kingdom, and consequences that fall on others do not fall on them in the same way.
Key Takeaways
- Knowledge deepens truth and prevents destruction — believers who have truth without knowledge will continue to struggle, sin, and suffer unnecessarily because they have no framework to operate in what they have received.
- Covenant protection is systematic, not automatic — divine covering activates within the assignment and withdraws outside of it; understanding how this operates is the difference between being defended and being defeated.
- Your assignment is your protection — the moment you step outside what God has specifically called you to do, you step outside the covering that makes you untouchable.
- The narrow path is not hard — it is the only path on which you lack nothing — resistance to God's leading is the spirit of the world still operating in a believer, not the difficulty of following Jesus.
- Secrecy preserves your assignment — disclosing what God has given you to those not appointed to carry it gives the enemy proximity and access to dismantle what God has built.
Reflection Questions
- Are you currently operating within the specific assignment God gave you, or have you drifted into something adjacent — someone else's calling, someone else's fight, or something you were never sent to do?
- When you face battles, setbacks, or unanswered prayers, have you asked the honest question: Why am I not being defended? — and have you examined whether you have stepped outside your assignment?
- Who have you given proximity to your calling that should not have it? What has been the cost of that disclosure, and what would change if you became more secretive with what God gave you?
- Where have you treated the narrow path as burdensome or difficult, when in truth it is the only path on which you will lack nothing? What would shift in your daily life if you embraced God's leading as the easiest path?
- Is there an area of your life — a career, a business, a ministry, a relationship — where nothing is flowing, and you have been blaming the enemy rather than asking whether you are in your God-given assignment?
