The Spirit of Influence: God's Most Powerful Weapon for His Kingdom

The Spirit of Influence: God's Most Powerful Weapon for His Kingdom

Teaching by Prophet Lovy L. Elias · Watch on YouTube · 4 February 2020

Influence is the ability to transform character — and God has released it upon believers as salt and light in a world that desperately needs both.

God has released the spirit of influence upon His church as the most powerful weapon ever created for His glory. Influence is not manipulation, not condemnation, and not noise — it is the God-given ability to transform somebody's character, to remove them from darkness into light, and to win multitudes to Jesus simply through presence, purpose, and alignment with God's design.

Teaching Overview

  1. God has released the spirit of influence upon believers as the most powerful weapon for His kingdom — influence transforms character and removes people from darkness into light.
  2. Believers are called to be salt and light in the world, not in the church — true influence only operates where God has sent you, among people who do not yet know Him.
  3. Influence is greater than anointing alone, greater than powerful prayers alone, and greater than condemnation — it wins people to Jesus through presence and character.
  4. The devil counterfeits influence through manipulation and witchcraft, because he knows that whoever carries genuine influence has the power to win souls.
  5. Believers must awaken to the responsibility of their influence — in culture, in politics, in entertainment, and in every sphere of society — before the enemy takes what God has already marked with His fingerprint.

The Definition and Nature of Influence

  • Influence is the ability to transform somebody's character — the ability to remove somebody from what they used to be into something completely different.
  • The devil's counterfeit for influence is manipulation and witchcraft — because the devil seeks to influence people, but lacking the power to do so, he resorts to manipulation instead.
  • Influence is embedded in all believers, but it is given in different measures.

"The spirit of influence is the most powerful weapon that God ever created for His glory."

"Children don't do what they are told they do what they see you do."

Influence vs. Fans

  • A fan follows what someone does, but influence makes somebody become like another person — these are fundamentally different outcomes.
  • Influence does not begin to operate because a person wants to be influential — it only works where God has sent them.
  • Jesus did not have fans — He influenced 12 men who won the world.

"Influence does not begin to operate because you want to be influential. It only works where God is sent to you."

Salt and Light — The Believer's Assignment in the World

  • God called believers the salt of the earth, not the sugar — salt preserves, heals, and a small amount influences the entire dish, while sugar merely sweetens.
  • When a believer loses the ability to influence the world, they become the world's footstool — people walk all over them.
  • God never called believers to be salt in the church — He called them to be salt in the world.

"If you lose your flavor, you'll be under other people's feet, you'll never rise to the top."

"God never called you to be salt in the church. He said, you are the salt of the world. In the earth, you are the salt of the world, not the church."

Light Only Has Meaning in Darkness

  • The greatness of light is only noticed when it is placed in darkness — believers will never impact anyone for God unless they are among people who do not know God.
  • God never called believers to condemn the world — He called them to influence the world through their character, mannerisms, kindness, and presence.
  • The distinction between believers and the world is not a list of prohibitions — it is the light of God's presence made visible in dark places.

"The greatness of light is only noticed when you put it in darkness."

"God never called us to condemn the world, but it called us to influence the world. That when somebody looks at you, not because you said anything, but just the way you are."

Anointing Without Influence

  • A person can be anointed and still lack influence — anointing and influence are distinct gifts.
  • The greatness of every great man or woman of God who has ever come upon the earth was their ability to influence the world — whoever carries influence is remembered.
  • When God calls someone, He measures whether He can unlock the influence in them — because if He unlocks it and the person is not in the right mindset, they may destroy a whole generation.

"You can be anointed and lack influence. Every great man or woman of God that has ever come upon the earth. Their greatness was the ability to influence the world."

The Devil Uses Only Those God Placed Influence In

  • The devil will never use someone that God did not place influence in — because without influence, they have no ability to win anyone.
  • This is why God carefully guards and measures the release of influence — it is the most powerful force for winning or destroying a generation.
  • The enemy counterfeits and redirects influence rather than creating it — because influence is a gift that originates from God alone.

"The devil will never use somebody that God did not put influence in them."

The Gospel Is About Multitudes

  • The gospel is about bringing a multitude to Jesus — not two or three people.
  • The evidence of real power is not volume in prayer or spiritual language — it is the ability to bring somebody from the brink of death and darkness and put them on the path of life.
  • Believers have lost sight of what is truly powerful when they mistake spiritual performance for genuine impact.

"The evidence of power is the ability to bring somebody from the brink of death, from the brink of darkness, and put them on the path of right."

The Spirit of Influence Is a Sovereign Grace

  • Influence is a spirit — a grace that God bestows upon people who are ready to make a mark in this world.
  • There is an intangible quality that nobody can teach or explain — "that thing" — which is the spirit of influence at work in a person.
  • Jesus you know by conviction is enough to win people — every believer carries a revelation of Jesus sufficient to influence others.

"Influence is a spirit. It is a grace that God bestows upon people that are ready to make a mark in this world."

"Jesus you know by conviction is enough to win people."

Key Definitions

Influence — The ability to transform somebody's character; the ability to remove somebody from what they used to be into something completely different.

Manipulation — The devil's counterfeit for influence; a compelling force used to cause someone to follow or comply without genuine character transformation — witchcraft in its spiritual form.

Salt of the earth — A distinction that marks believers as a preserving, healing, and flavor-giving presence sent into the world — not salt that originates from the earth, but a different kind of salt that came from somewhere else, the right salt for the earth.

Fans — People who follow what someone does without being changed by who they are; admiration without transformation — the opposite of true influence.

That thing — An intangible, unteachable quality in a person that draws others without explanation — the spirit of influence at work; what the entertainment and business world recognizes but cannot define.

The spirit of influence — A sovereign grace bestowed by God upon those ready to make a mark in the world; the most powerful weapon God ever created for His glory, given in different measures to believers.

Key Takeaways

  • Influence is the most powerful weapon God created for His glory — without it, anointing, prayer, and even spiritual gifts cannot win the world to Jesus.
  • Believers are called to be salt in the world, not in the church — staying confined to the church is the equivalent of salt that never reaches food, rendering it tasteless and ineffective.
  • The greatness of light is only seen in darkness — a believer who never goes among people who do not know God cannot demonstrate the kingdom and will never win anyone.
  • You can be anointed and still lack influence — God measures the readiness of a person's character before releasing the grace of influence, because misdirected influence can destroy a generation.
  • The gospel is about multitudes — the evidence of real spiritual power is not religious performance but the ability to bring people from the brink of death and darkness back into life.

Reflection Questions

  1. In which environments has God specifically sent you — where your presence alone carries the potential to influence people who do not yet know Him — and are you showing up there?
  2. Are you currently influencing people toward Jesus, or simply performing Christianity in environments where everyone already believes? What is the difference in your daily life?
  3. Where have you been condemning instead of influencing — in your family, workplace, or community — and what would it look like to shift from condemnation to the spirit of influence?
  4. The teaching warns that losing your flavor as a believer means becoming the world's footstool. In what areas of your life has the world been walking over you, and what flavor have you allowed to diminish?
  5. God releases influence to those who are ready — in the right mindset — to carry it without destroying a generation. What does your current character say about whether you are ready for the level of influence God wants to release upon you?

Prayers and Declarations

Opening Prayer

"We thank you Father for what you're doing in this place. We thank you for what you're doing in our hearts and minds of all of your people. We've come here today, God, because we have the audacity to believe that you have something for us here, God. We have the audacity to believe that you want to add something onto us, Father. And Lord, we abandon everything that we knew before. And we declare we know nothing, Father, that you made part into us, even more God. And we thank you that as your prophecy goes forth, you will surely be talking about each and every one of us, God. You won't mention us. You won't remember us, Father, because you are so good, Lord. We thank you and we bless your holy name. Hallelujah."
