The anointing places you in the arena, but it is the presence of God that wins the battle.

There is a profound distinction between walking with the Holy Spirit and operating in the anointing of God — and confusing the two has left many believers spiritually vulnerable, easily deceived, and unable to access what God has made available. The "well of oil" is a place where God's anointing flows in abundance, reserved for those He has specifically approved and endorsed. Understanding how that oil is accessed, how it operates, and how it differs from God's presence is essential for every believer who desires genuine spiritual authority.

Teaching Overview

  1. God anoints people from birth — specific people, not everybody.
  2. The first way you receive the oil, the first way you tap into the well of oil is from God Himself.

Key Distinctions

Holy SpiritAnointingPresence of God
What it isThe divine Person who convicts, draws, and regeneratesHeaven's endorsement of a person for supernatural assignmentGod Himself inhabiting a place or person in manifest reality
Who receives itEvery genuine believer in Jesus ChristSpecific individuals chosen by God — not every believerAvailable to any believer, even a new Christian
Can it be withdrawn?Yes — God can take His Spirit from an individualNo — God's gifts are without repentance; the oil remainsYes — God can depart while the anointing remains
What it producesConviction of sin, regeneration, and drawing men to GodSupernatural power, signs, and the ability to contend with spiritsTransformation, encounter, repentance, and release from demonic oppression
Can the devil resist it?The devil cannot produce it, but cannot always be defeated by it aloneYes — the devil is also anointed and can contend at the same levelNo — demonic spirits cannot remain where God's presence is
Without the otherWithout the anointing, the Spirit still draws men to GodWithout the Spirit, the anointing still works but is never effective — and becomes witchcraftWithout the anointing, the presence still overcomes giants

The Holy Spirit and the Anointing Are Not the Same

  • Every genuine believer receives the Holy Spirit — it is impossible to confess Jesus as Lord without the Holy Spirit's convicting work.
  • Being born again and filled with the Holy Spirit does not automatically mean a person is anointed.
  • The Holy Spirit draws and convicts men of sin; the anointing alone has no ability to do that.

"It is impossible for anybody to come to Christ without the work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the one that draws you because it is the one that convicts the world of its sin."

The Anointing Can Remain After the Spirit Departs

  • When a person grieves the Holy Spirit, God can withdraw His Spirit while the anointing remains active.
  • The anointing without the Holy Spirit will still function, but it will never be effective.
  • David understood this danger — in Psalm 51 he pleaded, "Don't take Your Spirit from me," because he knew the Spirit's departure was possible.

"Knowing thing without the Holy Spirit is not effective. It will work, but it will never be effective. Because knowing thing itself has no ability to draw anyone to God."

Miracles Were Never Designed to Win the World

  • God did not design the supernatural primarily to bring people to salvation — miracles were given for the strengthening of the Church.
  • A ministry centred only on supernatural demonstration will attract people with needs but no desire for Jesus.
  • When Jesus fed the five thousand, those same people admitted they had never truly listened to His words — they followed Him for bread, not for the Word of life.

"The world needs the word of God, not the anointing. The anointing attracts problems. And if your ministry is only centred on the demonstration of the supernatural, you will have people who have needs, but they have no need for Jesus."

What Proved Jesus Was Lord Was His Words

  • Everyone who cheered for Jesus to be crucified had experienced His miraculous power — yet it did not transform them.
  • It was the effect of His words on people's hearts — not signs and wonders — that caused even Roman soldiers to declare, "This is truly the Son of God."
  • The anointing separated from God is just power; it is the Word empowered by the Spirit that changes hearts.

"What proves that Jesus was Lord was not just power, was more so His words. Because of the effect they had on people's hearts."

Anointing Without the Presence Is Witchcraft

  • Any minister who operates in supernatural power without the presence of God is operating in pure witchcraft.
  • Simon the Sorcerer possessed a whole city through signs and wonders — but when the apostles arrived with the Spirit of God, men repented and came to God.
  • The test of whether the Holy Spirit is present in a supernatural ministry is whether people are genuinely brought to salvation.

"Anyone that functions with their anointing without the spirit — witchcraft. Pure witchcraft. When a man or a woman of God ministers without the presence, specifically the presence of God, the person is suspicious — not only is this suspicious, it is fake."

The Presence Overcomes What the Anointing Cannot

  • The devil can resist the anointing because he himself is anointed — and the level of one's anointing determines which demonic forces can be engaged.
  • The devil cannot resist the presence of God — when God's presence enters, demonic spirits cannot remain.
  • A baby Christian operating in God's presence can overcome a giant demon that a highly anointed person without the Spirit cannot defeat.

"The devil can resist the anointing, but he cannot resist the presence."

Spiritual Battle Is Anointing Against Anointing

  • Spiritual warfare operates on the level of anointing — even among witches, there are hierarchies of anointing that determine who can contend with whom.
  • The ability to engage in a spiritual fight with a demonic spirit requires anointing — without it, a demon will overcome the unanointed instantly.
  • Jacob could wrestle with the angel of the Lord because he was already anointed from the womb — the anointing gave him access to the fight, but the Spirit gave him the authority to win.

"Spiritual battle is anointing against anointing. Your ability to get into a fight with a spirit is because of anointing. Because if you are not anointed, a demon will smash you instantly."

God Anoints Specific People From Birth

  • The first and primary way the anointing is received is by God's sovereign approval before a person enters the world — not every believer carries this level of anointing.
  • All true servants of God who carried transformational, generational impact were anointed before birth: Jeremiah, Moses, John the Baptist, Samson, Jacob, and David.
  • These individuals were always targeted for assassination before or at birth — demonic forces discern the sign in the spirit and attempt to eliminate them early.

"The first way somebody receives their anointing is by God's approval before you came to the world. All true servants of God were anointed before they came in the world."

Stars, Destiny, and Demonic Counterfeits

  • Every human being born on earth carries a sign in the heavens — this is why the Magi could declare, "We saw His star."
  • Horoscopes contain a kernel of truth because of this heavenly sign at birth — but Satan corrupted and weaponised that truth to draw people away from God's revelation.
  • Those who adopt zodiac names are calling upon the names of demonic spirits assigned to rule over people born in those seasons.

"For every human being on earth there is a sign in the heavens, 100%. But Satan now took advantage of it because most human beings are not wise."

The Anointing Operates Beyond Religious Affiliation

  • God anointed Cyrus — a man who did not know Him — for a specific assignment aligned with His eternal plan for humanity.
  • Historical figures such as Nebuchadnezzar, and leaders across generations have carried anointing for influence without personal knowledge of God.
  • The anointing does not flow because a person is Christian — it flows because God has appointed them for a supernatural purpose that fits His divine plan.

"There is anointing that comes to you to do supernatural things that will align with God's plan for humanity. That will connect to God's divine eternal plan for humanity."

Key Definitions

Anointing — Heaven's endorsement of a person; God's supernatural approval that elevates a person into a realm where they can contend with spiritual forces and carry out divine assignment.

Well of Oil — The place where God's anointing exists in abundance — a spiritual source from which the anointing can be accessed by those God has approved, through distinct means.

Presence of God — The manifest reality of God Himself inhabiting a place or person; distinct from the anointing, it transforms, convicts, and causes demonic spirits to flee without resistance.

Witchcraft — Operating in supernatural anointing without the presence or Spirit of God; any ministry that produces signs and wonders without genuine salvation fruit.

Spiritual Warfare — A contest of anointing against anointing; the capacity to engage demonic forces in battle is determined by the level of anointing, but victory is secured by the presence of God.

Star (at birth) — The heavenly sign that accompanies every human being born on earth, indicating their divine destiny; the demonic world seeks to identify and corrupt or destroy these signs before they are fulfilled.

Key Takeaways

  • The Holy Spirit and the anointing are two distinct realities — a believer can be filled with the Holy Spirit without being anointed, and the anointing can remain even after the Holy Spirit has departed.
  • Miracles were designed to strengthen the Church, not to win the world — a ministry built solely on supernatural demonstration attracts need-seekers, not disciples.
  • The presence of God defeats what the anointing alone cannot — because the devil is himself anointed, only God's presence — which the devil no longer possesses — is an absolute spiritual authority he cannot withstand.
  • Spiritual warfare is anointing against anointing — your ability to engage in spiritual battle is determined by your level of anointing, but your victory is secured by the presence of the Holy Spirit.
  • God's sovereign anointing from birth sets apart specific people for transformational, generational assignments — these individuals are always targeted for destruction early because demonic forces recognise the sign of their calling.

Reflection Questions

  1. Are the spiritual ministries and voices you are sitting under bearing fruit in salvation — or are you being drawn by signs, prophecies, and promises that never produce genuine transformation?
  2. In your personal prayer life and spiritual practice, are you pursuing the presence of God — or are you settling for spiritual activity and supernatural experiences that leave your character unchanged?
  3. Where have you been vulnerable to counterfeit spiritual authority — following someone because of their demonstrated power without discerning whether the Spirit of God is actually present?
  4. Do you understand what God has specifically called and anointed you for — or have you been comparing your assignment to others', desiring an influence God has not given you?
  5. If spiritual battle is anointing against anointing, what does your current level of spiritual authority say about your readiness to face the demonic opposition assigned to your life and calling?

Prayers and Declarations

Opening Prayer

"May the Lord bless you wherever you are and I believe that God is with you and I believe that this is an appointed time for you to be here with me and I believe that the fellowship of the Holy Spirit will move through us and I believe that the King of glory will take us from glory to glory to glory."

Closing Prayer

"Father, I release the biggest and the best blessing to your people. As we hear this word may be transformed. Amen. As they give Father, remember them in every area of their need, in the mighty name of Jesus, amen."
