Breaking the Doctrine of Devils: Atmosphere, Instruction, and the Spirit of Revelation
The Doctrine Of Devils · Part 2 of 2
Doctrines of devils are not broken by prayer alone — they are broken by changing your atmosphere, sitting under a seasoned servant of God, and receiving the Spirit of wisdom and revelation.
Doctrines of devils are dismantled not through religious effort but through transformation — and transformation is inseparable from atmosphere. The same God who met Moses at a burning bush, who changed the disciples simply by proximity, and who let Judas cast out demons before destroying him, is a God whose nature and power operate according to atmosphere. Understanding what shifts a man from one spiritual place to another is not optional — it is the foundation of breaking every false doctrine that has taken root in your life.
Teaching Overview
- "Change your atmosphere."
- "Have an instructor — somebody that is full of God."
- "The spirit of revelation."
Key Distinctions
| Presence of God | Atmosphere of God | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A momentary encounter or manifest awareness of God | The sustained environment where God's rule and righteousness operate |
| How it is entered | Through prayer, worship, or a sovereign visitation | Through sustained proximity — to God's Word, His people, and His servants |
| Effect on the believer | A temporary spiritual experience | A permanent transformation of character, doctrine, and functionality |
| Biblical example | Israel seeing God's mighty acts at the Red Sea | Moses standing on holy ground at the burning bush |
| What it produces | Emotional or spiritual sensation | Changed doctrine, renewed strength, and sensitivity to God's voice |
| Religious Spirit | Doctrine of Devils | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A man-made construct — not a demonic entity | A spiritual deception introduced by demonic beings |
| Origin | The soul of man; human tradition and practice | Demonic influence operating through false teaching |
| Can it be cast out? | No — it is not a demon; it belongs to the soul | Yes — as a spiritual authority over false belief |
| How it is corrected | Correction of the soul, not deliverance ministry | Changed atmosphere, truth, and the Spirit of Revelation |
| Biblical pattern | Jesus never bound a spirit of religion | Paul warns against doctrines of devils in 1 Timothy |
| Ceremonial Laws | Ten Commandments | |
|---|---|---|
| Scope | Given to specific covenant people (descendants of Abraham) | Universal moral standard |
| Applicability today | Fulfilled and set aside under grace through Christ | Subsumed under grace, yet reflect the character of God |
| Error when misapplied | Selective quotation without context produces false doctrine | Used rightly, they reveal the need for grace |
| Personal Doctrine | God's Mind | |
|---|---|---|
| Source | Cultural background, tradition, upbringing | Revealed through the Spirit of wisdom and understanding |
| How it masquerades | Uses scripture out of context to defend human opinion | Requires the Spirit of Revelation to rightly discern |
| Corrective | Changing your atmosphere and sitting under a seasoned instructor | The Spirit of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding |
| Prayer Alone | Atmospheric Change | |
|---|---|---|
| What it produces | Spiritual effort without transformation if atmosphere is unchanged | Transformation of character, doctrine, and spiritual sensitivity |
| Biblical precedent | The Israelites prayed in Egypt but remained unchanged after leaving | Moses stood on holy ground and was already changed before God spoke |
| Limitation | Cannot substitute for proximity to God and His servants | Amplifies prayer and aligns it with the will of God |
| Scripture Without Discernment | Scripture With Spirit of Revelation | |
|---|---|---|
| What it produces | Selective application, false doctrine, and spiritual harm | Insight and foresight — correct understanding of God's Word |
| Danger | More disastrous than not reading the Bible at all | Leads to liberty, maturity, and the mind of Christ |
| How it is received | Through intellectual reading alone | Through the Spirit of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding |
There Is No Such Thing as a Religious Spirit
- Religion is man-made; no demonic being has ever introduced a religion — demons introduce doctrines, not religions.
- Binding a "spirit of religion" is a complete waste of time because what manifests in religious people is the soul, not a demon.
- Demons exploit religious people by taking advantage of their sincerity, but the root of the problem belongs to the soul and must be corrected, not cast out.
"You cannot review what the soul has done. You correct what the soul has done."
Tracking Your Spiritual Progress
- Every child of God must be able to measure their spiritual position — where they were yesterday and whether they have grown.
- The more truth you receive, the more freedom you walk in, and that freedom is the evidence of spiritual maturity.
- Operating in assumption rather than knowledge means you cannot find your way back when you fall out of the place God has put you.
"The more truth you have, the more freedom you have — that equals spiritual maturity."
Atmosphere Transformed Moses Before God Even Spoke
- Moses grew up Egyptian, worshiping Egyptian gods — he had no knowledge of the God of his fathers.
- The name Moses means "one drawn out of water," which was a prophetic declaration of his destiny to lead the greatest deliverance of men through water.
- When Moses entered the atmosphere of the burning bush, God said "remove your shoes" — and without argument, without doubt, without question, Moses was already changed simply by being in that atmosphere.
"By simply virtue of being in that place, Moses was already changed."
Proximity to God Changes You — Distance Does Not
- The Israelites saw God's mighty acts at the Red Sea, received manna in the wilderness, and witnessed His cloud of glory — yet remained unchanged and died in the desert.
- Their children entered the Promised Land not because of superior faith, but because they grew up in a different atmosphere.
- The disciples of Jesus cast out demons before they were filled with the Holy Spirit — not because of their own authority, but because of the atmosphere of Christ they inhabited.
"Your atmosphere has a lot to do with your functionality."
The Presence of God and the Atmosphere of God Are Not the Same
- The presence of God is a momentary encounter; the atmosphere of God is the sustained environment where His kingdom operates.
- "Thy kingdom come" is a prayer for the atmosphere of God — the place where His rule and righteousness are active.
- Things are added unto you because of your atmosphere; praying for harvest while living in a spiritual desert will produce nothing.
"My atmosphere is absolutely important, not just to me but also to God."
The Garden of Eden Was an Atmospheric Covenant
- Adam was not morally good in the garden — he was innocent, meaning he could not be condemned for what he did not yet know.
- God placed Adam in a specific location so He could visit him every evening without Adam needing a prayer session — the relationship flowed from the atmosphere.
- When Adam left the atmosphere, the relationship with God changed; not because God withdrew His love, but because sin outside the atmosphere had different consequences.
"Sin doesn't chase God away. Nothing can separate me from the love of God. Sin is bad, but God is bigger than sin."
Atmosphere Determines How God Speaks and What He Requires
- When Moses left the atmosphere where God had spoken to him and returned home, God met him there — ready to kill him for an unfulfilled covenant requirement he did not know.
- Zipporah, who had grown up near that atmosphere, discerned what God required and acted — while Moses, who had just spoken with God, could not perceive it.
- God introduced Himself differently to Moses than to the Israelites — even the name He used changed based on the atmosphere of the audience.
"God is behaving differently because of the atmosphere."
Do Not Correct What You Cannot Yet Discern
- When an atmosphere is foreign to you, humility is required — attempting to correct those seasoned in it reveals ignorance, not righteousness.
- Selective use of scripture without landing the context is not knowledge of God's Word — it is personal doctrine disguised as truth.
- People mix their cultural background and personal traditions with God's mind, and all of it traces back to the environment they came from.
"Before you quote scriptures, land the context."
When the Atmosphere Changed, Doctrine Changed Without Demand
- After the Holy Spirit fell at Pentecost, believers began selling possessions and giving to one another — not because they were told to, but because the atmosphere produced it.
- Angels became common in the atmosphere of the early church — the young damsel at the door assumed it was Peter's angel because they had seen his angels before.
- Ananias and Sapphira died not because they broke a rule but because they lied within an atmosphere where God's holiness was present and active.
"Prayer is more powerful in other locations than others. Your prayer needs to match up with your atmosphere."
Have an Instructor Full of God
- The person you submit to must not be seasoned in one area while deficient in another — they must be full of the seven spirits of God: wisdom, understanding, counsel, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord.
- Apostle Paul said "my God is able to supply your needs" — not "our God" — because proximity to a seasoned servant connects you to the God that appointed that servant.
- When God works through another man, God is already translated and decoded — your human soul can receive what it could not comprehend directly.
"When God works through another man, God is already translated."
Elisha and the God of His Master
- Elisha did not call on his own God when he faced the Jordan — he called on the God of Elijah, because that is the God he had received from.
- The sons of the prophets bowed and declared "the Spirit of Elijah is upon him" — they recognized the atmospheric transfer that had taken place.
- The functionality of Elijah was not Elisha's to claim independently — but the God who appointed Elijah became accessible to Elisha through what he received.
"Because he received from Elijah, he knew that what was working in him, the One who chose him, was the God that also appointed Elijah."
Pray for the Spirit of Revelation
- The Spirit of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding is what constitutes the Spirit of Revelation — it gives you insight and foresight on the Word of God.
- Reading the Bible without the Spirit of wisdom and understanding is more disastrous than not reading it — it produces hate, false doctrine, and selective application.
- More people who read the Bible every day behave demonically than some who have never touched it, because the letter without the Spirit kills.
"Reading the Bible without the spirit of wisdom and understanding and knowledge is more disastrous."
Key Definitions
Religious Spirit — Not a demonic entity; a man-made construct of the soul that creates religious behavior without God. It cannot be cast out — it must be corrected.
Atmosphere of God — The sustained environment where God's kingdom, rule, and righteousness are actively operating — distinct from a momentary encounter with His presence.
Doctrine of Devils — A spiritual deception introduced through demonic influence, embedded in false or distorted teaching, that keeps believers from the truth that liberates.
Spirit of Revelation — The Spirit of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding operating together; what gives the believer insight and foresight to rightly discern the Word of God.
Ceremonial Laws — Laws given specifically to the descendants of Abraham under the Mosaic covenant; not universal commandments, and set aside under grace through Christ.
Personal Doctrine — A believer's cultural background, tradition, or upbringing imposed onto scripture as though it were God's truth; identified by its selective use of the Word without context.
Key Takeaways
- Doctrines of devils are broken by changing your atmosphere, not by prayer alone — prayer disconnected from the right atmosphere has no foundation to produce transformation.
- Proximity to a seasoned servant of God connects you to the God who appointed them — you receive a decoded, translated version of God that your human soul can receive and act on.
- Reading scripture without the Spirit of Revelation is more dangerous than not reading it — without wisdom and understanding, the Word becomes a weapon of false doctrine rather than a tool of liberation.
Reflection Questions
- What is the current atmosphere you are living in spiritually — and is it producing measurable growth, or are you operating in assumption?
- Who are you connected to that is at a higher spiritual ground than you, and are you truly submitted to what they carry — or are you selectively receiving only what is comfortable?
- Where have you been using scripture to defend a personal tradition or cultural background rather than seeking the mind of God through the Spirit of Revelation?
- In what areas of your spiritual life have you been praying the same prayer without a change in atmosphere — and what would it look like to actually change your atmosphere in that area?
- Is there a place where you have been correcting or challenging a seasoned believer from a position of unfamiliarity — where humility and learning are the more honest posture?
