Heavenly Beings in the Flesh: Knowing Yourself as a New Creation in Christ
Your ability to receive from God, walk in power, and represent Christ depends entirely on whether you know yourself according to the Spirit — not the flesh.
The foundation of all Christian life — prayer, healing, authority, identity, and reconciliation — begins with understanding who you are after the cross. Most believers struggle not because they lack faith, but because they see themselves, God, and others through the lens of the flesh rather than through the truth of what Christ has accomplished. You are not your body. You just live in it.
Teaching Overview
- Spiritual maturity begins with knowing yourself according to the Spirit, not according to the flesh.
- Your posture in prayer — not merely your words — determines whether you receive from God.
- Seeing yourself, others, and God's vessels after the flesh disqualifies you from receiving anything divine.
- You are a new creation in Christ, born of the Spirit, and not connected to Adam — which means reconciliation to God is not a prayer, it is a decision.
- You are made the righteousness of God in Christ, and calling yourself a sinner after being born again contradicts what Jesus became on your behalf.
Key Distinctions
| Flesh | Spirit | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The physical, condemned nature inherited from Adam | The born-again nature, born of God, that cannot sin |
| How God sees it | Already condemned and dead | Alive in Christ, righteous, new creation |
| Effect on prayer | Produces wrong posture — blocks reception from God | Produces correct posture — aligns you to receive before you speak |
| Effect on ministry | Receives nothing divine; profits nothing | Opens the door to prophet's reward and divine power |
| How it relates to mind | Kept alive by the mind; broken by grace, not law | Renewed by transforming the mind |
| Identity it produces | Sinner, bound to Adam, defined by birth year and nationality | Child of God, prince of heaven, ambassador of Christ |
| Righteousness | Holiness | Sinlessness | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Being made right before God through Christ's sacrifice | A consecrated state of being set apart to God | The absence of sin entirely |
| How it is obtained | Imputed — received through faith in Christ | A calling upon every believer | Not possible in the flesh |
| Relation to sin | Declared over you despite the flesh | Has nothing to do with sin | Confused with holiness by those who lack understanding |
| After the new birth | You are made the righteousness of God in Him | You are called to be holy | Your spirit is born of God and does not sin — your flesh still can |
| Vision | Dream | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A spiritual sight — you see what God shows | God's speech — God talking to you |
| Requires interpretation? | No — visions are what you see | Yes — without spiritual understanding you misinterpret |
| How it works | Visual in the spirit realm | Visual to the body, but technically speech to the spirit |
| Risk of error | Lower — what you see is what is shown | Higher — judging a dream by what you see, not by what God is saying, leads to misinterpretation |
| Posture | Prayer | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Your spiritual stance and belief before and as you pray | The words and petitions you bring before God |
| Which comes first | Posture precedes prayer | Prayer flows out of posture |
| Effect when wrong | Even a correct prayer becomes wrong | Cannot compensate for a wrong posture |
| God's response | "Before they call, I will answer" — God responds to posture | Unanswered prayer is often a posture problem, not a wording problem |
| New Creation | Old Nature (Adam) | |
|---|---|---|
| Origin | Born of the Spirit, from above | Born of the flesh, from Adam |
| Connection to sin | Not connected to Adam — born of God, spirit does not sin | Fallen, condemned, prone to sin |
| Condemned? | No condemnation for those in Christ | Already condemned |
| Identity | Righteous, child of God, citizen of heaven | Defined by birth, nationality, failure |
| How to walk in it | Know the truth — not just declare it | Renew the mind; strip the flesh by grace, not law |
| Before the Cross | After the Cross | |
|---|---|---|
| Man's standing before God | Sinner in need of reconciliation | Made righteous through Christ |
| How to approach God | Beating your chest — Lord be merciful to me a sinner | Reconciled — it is a decision, not a prayer |
| How God sees sin | Imputed to man | Not imputing trespasses — Jesus became sin on our behalf |
| Context of humility parables | Applies — man was still under the law | Humility remains, but the posture of "I am a sinner" after being born again contradicts the finished work |
Spiritual Understanding Is Not Natural Learning
- Spiritual things are not approached the way natural things are learned — God uses concepts from the natural world to give us a window into the spiritual realm we are already in.
- This earth exists within the spiritual world, and those who are conscious according to the Spirit can perceive the spiritual structures that sustain what appears physically unsupported.
- Being a Christian for a long time does not produce spiritual maturity — divine revelation and divine understanding are what make you spiritual.
"Being a Christian for a long time does not make you spiritually mature. Being a Christian with divine revelation, with divine understanding, now you're becoming spiritual."
Dreams Are God's Speech, Not Vision
- Dreams are not technically visual — they are God's speech, tied to the experiences and knowledge of the dreamer, and must be interpreted rather than taken at face value.
- A vision requires no interpretation because it is what you literally see in the spirit; a dream requires interpretation because it is not visual at its root — it is God talking.
- Without spiritual understanding, a dreamer who judges by what they see will misinterpret what God is actually saying.
"Dreams are God's speech. If you don't have spiritual understanding and you see somebody in your dream doing something, you come out and you say, I saw this person doing this and that's not actually what God was saying. You will misinterpret."
Wrong Self-Perception Corrupts Your Prayer Posture
- The way you see yourself directly determines the posture from which you pray, and posture is what makes you receive from God.
- Prayer does not begin with what you say — it begins with your posture, and the beginning of the prayer determines whether you will receive from God or not.
- If you have the wrong posture, even a correct prayer becomes wrong — this is why God says, "Before they call, I will answer."
"If you have the wrong posture, even if you're praying the right prayer, the prayer becomes wrong because the posture is wrong. Prayer does not begin with what you say. Prayer begins by your posture."
Knowing No One After the Flesh
- To know someone after the flesh is to disqualify yourself from receiving anything divine from them — the flesh profited nothing and there is no gain after the flesh.
- Jesus, though without sin, consistently refused to be known according to the flesh — He always redirected to His heavenly origin — because the moment someone looked at Him after the flesh, it was impossible to receive from Him.
- The enemy's strategy against the church is to humanize God's vessels so that the people look at them after the flesh and lose the ability to receive the divine.
"The moment you know somebody according to the flesh, especially a man or a woman of God, you can never receive anything of them. Why? Because the flesh profited nothing."
"If you receive a prophet in the name of a prophet, you will receive a prophet's reward. The moment you look at him after the flesh, you can no longer receive any reward from him."
Spiritual Maturity and Separation from the Flesh
- Spiritual maturity is the ability to recognize that your flesh is already condemned and dead — so its actions carry no consequence before God if you are in Christ.
- The spirit that is born of God cannot sin; it can no longer relate to the places the flesh goes, and it actively wars against the flesh.
- You do not break the flesh by strengthening it through law — you strip it by grace, because what keeps the flesh alive is the mind.
"When you can realize that your flesh is already condemned, it's dead. So its actions are unnecessary before God. Because you are dead. That is called spiritual maturity."
"You don't break the flesh by strengthening it by the law. You are supposed to strip it by grace. Because what makes the flesh alive is the mind."
Righteousness, Holiness, and Sinlessness Are Not the Same
- Holiness has nothing to do with sin — these are distinct biblical concepts, and confusing them produces false teaching and spiritual immaturity.
- God does not judge His people based on their failures — He judges based on their desire to live for Him, their crying for mercy, and their holding on to righteousness.
- Even at your weakest, the Lord promises He will never leave you nor forsake you — the covenant is not broken by the flesh.
"Holiness has nothing to do with sin. I am holy. So be ye holy."
"God judges us based on our desire to live for Him and how much we are crying for mercy and how much we are holding on to righteousness."
The Battlefield Is the Mind
- Every area of transformation — physical, spiritual, or circumstantial — begins with a change of mind, because perspective becomes reality.
- The flesh is kept alive by the mind, which is why God calls every believer to renew their mind — the moment the mind is renewed, the body follows.
- The mind can be carnal or spiritual, and what you think determines what you are: as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
"You want to wrestle against principalities and powers, change your mind. The battlefield is your mind."
"Perspective is reality. Perspective becomes your reality."
The New Creation Is a Knowing, Not a Declaration
- "I am a new creation" is not a declaration to be spoken — it is a truth to be known, and knowing it requires understanding the context of what Christ accomplished.
- This new creation is not connected to Adam — it is born of the Spirit, and for this reason there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ.
- The more you realize you are one with Him and conformed to the image of Christ, the more the Holy Spirit can fill you.
"I am a new creation. It's not a declaration it's a knowing. You have to know what makes you a new creation."
"This new creation is born of the Spirit. The more you realize that you are one with him, the more the Holy Spirit can fill you."
You Are Made the Righteousness of God
- Christ was made sin so that you might be made the righteousness of God in Him — a righteous person is one who cannot do wrong in God's sight.
- When you call yourself a sinner after being born again, you are attempting to take the position Jesus alone was called to occupy — only one was made to become sin.
- God is not seeing a sinner when He looks at a born-again believer — He is seeing someone who has been conformed to the image of Christ.
"When you say I am a sinner after you're born again, you are trying to take Jesus' place. You can't become sin. There's only one that became sin."
"A righteous person is a person that cannot do wrong in God's sight."
Ambassadors of Reconciliation
- God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses — and He has given to believers the ministry of reconciliation.
- Reconciliation is not a matter of prayer — it is a decision, and the role of God's ambassadors is to call people to make that decision.
- As ambassadors of Christ, believers speak on behalf of the King: "Be reconciled to God, for He hath made Him to be sin for us."
"Reconciliation is no longer a matter of prayer. It's a matter of you deciding. It is a decision."
"We are not just to tell people about Jesus, we are to reconcile them to Jesus."
The Authority to Forgive and to Heal
- Jesus commissioned His disciples with authority to forgive sins — those who are in Christ and commissioned by God carry this same authority.
- When chronic sickness is rooted in sin, declaring forgiveness releases the person — this is why "your sins are forgiven, stand up and walk" produces immediate results.
- Jesus never condemned those who came to Him — He forgave, freed, and sent them forward, and His ambassadors are called to do the same.
"I can declare your sins forgiven. I can. If you are in Christ and you're commissioned by God, you can too."
"When people went to Jesus, what did He say? I don't condemn you. Your sins have been forgiven. Go and sin no more."
Heavenly Beings in the Flesh
- There are people walking in this earth who are heavenly beings in the flesh — those who have denounced and renounced their physical citizenship and physical identity.
- You are not your body — you just live in it. You are the seed of God, and your identity must be known according to the Spirit, not according to when or where you were born.
- The love you have for God is the true measure of your destiny and your future — he that is forgiven much loves much, and all things work for the good of those who love Him.
"There are people who are walking around us that are heavenly beings in the flesh. Because they denounced and renounced their physical citizenship and their physical identity."
"You are not your body, you just live in it."
Key Definitions
Spiritual Maturity — The ability to recognize that your flesh is already condemned and dead, to separate yourself from its actions, and to see yourself, others, and God's vessels according to the Spirit rather than the flesh.
Posture (in prayer) — The spiritual stance from which you approach God before and as you pray; the belief and identity you carry into the prayer that determines whether you will receive from God, not merely the words you speak.
New Creation — Not a declaration, but a known reality: the nature born of the Spirit when a person is in Christ, entirely disconnected from Adam, carrying no condemnation, and made the righteousness of God in Him.
Dream — God's speech; not technically a vision, though it is experienced visually by the soul. Because it is speech rather than sight, it requires interpretation — judging a dream by what you see rather than what God is saying produces misinterpretation.
Righteousness — Being made right before God through what Christ accomplished — imputed to the believer so that God no longer sees a sinner but one conformed to the image of Christ. It is distinct from both holiness and sinlessness.
Reconciliation — The finished work of God in Christ, by which He no longer imputes trespasses to humanity. It is not achieved through prayer — it is a decision the individual makes to receive what has already been done.
Knowing (the truth) — Not intellectual familiarity, but deep experiential acquaintance — to be entangled with, to walk in, and to remain in the truth. From the same root as "Adam knew his wife" — an intimate, lived reality, not a statement.
Key Takeaways
- Posture determines reception — The posture from which you approach God in prayer is more foundational than the words you pray; a wrong posture makes even a correct prayer ineffective.
- Seeing after the flesh blocks divine flow — The moment you look at yourself, others, or God's vessels after the flesh, you disqualify yourself from receiving anything divine — the flesh profits nothing.
- You are a new creation, not a sinner — After being born again, calling yourself a sinner contradicts the finished work of Christ; you have been made the righteousness of God in Him, and that is how God sees you.
- Reconciliation is a decision, not a prayer — God has already reconciled the world to Himself through Christ; the believer's role as an ambassador is to call others to decide to receive what has already been accomplished.
- The battlefield is the mind — Spiritual transformation, the renewal of the body, and the ability to walk in divine power all begin with changing your mind, because what you think becomes your reality.
Reflection Questions
- From what posture are you currently approaching God in prayer — do you come as someone who is righteous in Christ, or as someone defined by your failures and flesh?
- Is there a man or woman of God in your life whom you have begun to know after the flesh? What have you lost in your ability to receive from them because of that, and what would it look like to correct your perspective?
- In what areas of your life are you still identifying with your physical origin — your birth year, your nationality, your past mistakes — rather than with who you are according to the Spirit?
- Do you truly know that you are a new creation, or have you only been declaring it? What would it mean for your daily life if this became a living, experiential reality rather than a confession?
- Is there someone in your life who needs reconciliation to God — not more prayer, but a decision? How are you positioned as an ambassador of reconciliation to call them into that decision?
