Interpreting Prophetic Dreams: God's Primary Language to Humanity

Interpreting Prophetic Dreams: God's Primary Language to Humanity

Interpreting Prophetic Dreams · Part 3 of 3

Teaching by Prophet Lovy L. Elias · Watch on YouTube · 15 January 2020

Dreams are not random — they are God's primary method of communicating your purpose, destiny, and divine instruction.

Dreams are not incidental experiences to be dismissed or forgotten. God speaks to every human being through dreams, encoding purpose, warning, wisdom, and destiny into the imagery of the sleeping mind. To ignore your dreams is to ignore the primary channel through which God is directing your life.

Teaching Overview

  1. Number one, the person who did what happened was not your brother, it was a spirit inside of your brother.
  2. Number one, there's a lot of spiritual limitation in your life.
  3. Number one is you have to empty yourself so that new wisdom can be put in you.
  4. Number two, the woman that you saw was the spirit of wisdom.

Dreams Are God's Primary Method of Communication

  • Dreams are God's number one way of communicating with humanity — not incidental, not random, but divine instruction deposited into your soul.
  • God speaks once, speaks twice, and when man does not perceive it, He comes in the dream and vision of the night, opens the ears of men, and seals the instruction.
  • Speaking in tongues is a gift given to some, but dreams are given to all human beings as God's universal language of communication.

"Dreams are primary and tongues are secondary."

The Soul as the Mailbox of the Spirit

  • The mind is not a physical thing — it resides in the soul, in the intermediate state between the physical and the spiritual.
  • The soul is the mailbox of the spirit — God continually drops messages there, but if you are not aware of what is in your subconscious mind, you will miss what God has for you.
  • There are hidden treasures in the soul that unlock abilities and understanding — believers who neglect the soul miss the divine deposits God has placed there.

"God drops messages, God drops messages, God drops messages, but if you're not aware of what is in your subconscious mind, you will miss what God has for you."

Dreams Are Directly Connected to Your Purpose

  • God does not give you dreams because you understand them — He gives you dreams because they are your purpose, and it is up to you to uncover and understand them.
  • One who takes his dreams lightly is withdrawn from his purpose — ignoring your dreams is not a neutral act; it causes you to forfeit what God prepared for you.
  • Joseph saw his destiny in a dream before he understood it; Jacob received his instructions in dreams; Solomon received wisdom through a dream — biblical precedent establishes dreams as the vehicle of destiny.

"Your dream is directly connected to your purpose. God does not give you dreams because you understand them. It gives you dreams because it is your purpose and it is up to you to uncover it and to understand it."

The Subconscious Mind and Spiritual Mastery

  • When you learn something and do it repeatedly until it becomes subconscious, you can do it naturally — this is how God's Word is meant to become part of you, not just information you recall.
  • Renewing the mind through the Word means reading, reciting, and meditating on it until it becomes muscle memory — not reading the Bible like a book but absorbing it until it becomes flesh.
  • Jesus never quoted Scripture to act righteously — He was the embodiment of the Word, acting it out instinctively because it had become His very nature.

"When you do something over and over again, your subconscious opens up to pick it in and it replaces what was in the place of that."

The Vision of the Night: A Dream Within a Dream

  • A vision of the night is not an ordinary dream — it is a vision that occurs within a dream, so vivid and physically felt that you wake with your heart racing and body sweating.
  • Visions produce physical effects; trances produce physical effects — when a dream crosses into vision-of-the-night territory, the body responds as though the experience was real.
  • God speaks first in a dream, then He can visit you in a vision of the night — these are two distinct dimensions of the same communication channel.

"The vision of the night is a vision within a dream. It was not just a dream like you dreamt about it, but it was too vivid over a dream that you came out of it."

Single-Minded Focus and Receiving Spiritual Impartation

  • You can never receive the spirit of a person unless you receive their mind — the capacity to house what God wants you to carry is built through submitted, focused listening under one spiritual authority.
  • Elisha received the spirit of Elijah because Elisha had only one father — the sons of the prophets sat under Elijah alongside many other influences and never received his spirit.
  • If you are listening to many voices simultaneously, the elevator that is supposed to take you up will go down and break your neck — scattered listening destroys direction and collapses destiny.

"It will not work unless you are single-eyed, meaning you have to have one focus."

Emptying Yourself to Receive New Wisdom

  • You have to empty yourself so that new wisdom can be put in you — but you can never receive new wisdom if other wisdom is already speaking inside you.
  • When you are called to receive something from God, be willing to listen and never contribute — contributing while receiving is the old wisdom asserting itself and blocking the new.
  • The soul must be under the right leadership and filtered correctly — if your soul carries the wrong information, it immediately distorts how you interpret everything God is saying.

"You have to empty yourself so that new wisdom can be put in you. But you can never receive new wisdom if you have other wisdom already talking in you."

Key Definitions

Dreams — God's primary and universal communication method to all human beings; the soul's interpretation of what God and your spirit are saying to you, directly connected to your purpose and destiny.

Vision of the Night — A vision that occurs within a dream; distinguished from an ordinary dream by its intense vividness and physical effect upon the body — racing heart, sweating — as though the experience was physically real.

Subconscious Mind — The deep layer of the soul where repeated learning, experience, and divine communication are stored; the mailbox of the spirit, where God deposits messages that govern purpose and ability.

Soul — The intermediate state between the physical body and the spirit; the mailbox where God drops messages through dreams, and the reservoir of hidden treasures that unlock abilities not accessible through the spirit alone.

Speaking by Revelation — Not a premeditated or studied delivery, but a direct reflex of what God is thinking and saying in the moment — the speaker functioning as a living response to the Spirit of the Lord.

Single-eyed — Having one focus; placing yourself exclusively under one spiritual authority so that genuine impartation and transfer of spirit can occur, rather than receiving scattered, competing wisdom from multiple sources.

Key Takeaways

  • Dreams are God's primary language to humanity — Every person, saved or unsaved, receives communication from God through dreams; dismissing your dreams means dismissing God's primary channel of direction and purpose.
  • Your dream is directly connected to your purpose — God deposits destiny into dreams not because you understand them but because they contain your purpose — uncovering that purpose requires paying attention to what God has already spoken.
  • The soul is the mailbox of the spirit — God continually drops messages into your subconscious; if you are spiritually unaware or spiritually cluttered, you will miss the divine deposits already placed within you.
  • You can never receive new wisdom while carrying competing wisdom — Emptying yourself and placing yourself under single, focused spiritual authority is not optional — it is the condition for genuine impartation and prophetic growth.
  • One who takes his dreams lightly is withdrawn from his purpose — Inattention to dreams is not passive; it actively causes you to be removed from the path God designed for your life.

Reflection Questions

  1. How seriously have you treated your dreams until now — and what specific dreams have you dismissed or forgotten that may have contained divine instruction about your purpose?
  2. Who or what are you currently listening to spiritually, and is your attention scattered across many voices rather than submitted to one clear, God-appointed authority?
  3. What competing wisdom, past experiences, or unresolved hurt is currently occupying your soul — and what would it look like to genuinely empty yourself before God?
  4. In what areas of your life are you still treating God's Word as a tablet of stone — quoting and referencing it — rather than as something that has become flesh and second nature in you?
  5. What specific step can you take this week to begin paying deliberate attention to your dreams — recording them, meditating on them, and asking God to unlock what He has deposited in your subconscious?

Scripture References

  • Job 33:14-17 — "For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man." (KJV)
  • Matthew 27:19 — "When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him." (KJV)
