Interpreting Prophetic Dreams: God's Primary Language and the Power of Spiritual Covering
Dreams are not a side feature of the Christian life — they are God's foundational channel of communication, and learning to interpret them unlocks the fullness of divine direction.
God communicates with every human being primarily through dreams — not as an occasional supernatural event, but as the baseline design of the human spirit. Believers who develop their spiritual vocabulary, operate under proper covering, and walk in obedience to their spiritual father or mother access the fullness of God's power and purpose. This teaching builds the theological framework for understanding why dreams are supreme, how the spiritual realm is structured, and what it means to be truly connected to God's voice.
Teaching Overview
- Dreams are God's primary method of communicating with all of humanity — not speaking in tongues, not Scripture reading, but dreams.
- The human spirit is a transmitter between the visible and invisible world, and spiritual vocabulary must be built to interpret what the spirit receives.
- Scripture is the foundation of spiritual life, not the ceiling — there are hidden mysteries and divine secrets that go beyond what is written.
- True worship is not an emotional or musical experience but an entry into the realm of the Spirit where the manifest presence of God produces transformation.
- Spiritual covering through a spiritual father or mother is essential for divine direction, and obedience to that covering — not physical proximity — is what activates power.
Key Distinctions
| Dreams | Visions | Speaking in Tongues | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | The primary God-designed method for every human being to interact with the spiritual realm | A secondary means of communication God uses to convince and confirm — especially granted to prophets | A spiritual gift and tool that gives additional access in prayer |
| Who it is for | Every human being — it is part of your nature, not a gift | Prophets primarily; given to the general public to convince | Believers who receive it as a gift of the Spirit |
| When it operates | Automatically — you are born dreaming; it requires no initiation | Given by God at His discretion to establish or confirm a message | Activated through the gift of the Spirit |
| Whether it can be developed | Yes — there is falling asleep and dreaming, and there is dreaming dreams, where you initiate interaction with God | Not typically initiated; God gives it to make the message vivid and undeniable | It can be deepened but remains secondary to dreams |
| Foundation in Scripture | Jacob's dream; Adam's sleep; Joel's prophecy of dreams | Numbers 12 — prophets known through visions and dark speeches | Acts 2; 1 Corinthians 14 |
| Rank in God's communication order | Number one | Secondary | Secondary — even below dreams |
| Operating from God's Mind | Operating from Your Own Ideas | |
|---|---|---|
| Source | The mind of God received through prayer, dreams, and divine direction | Your own reasoning, feelings, or ambition |
| Result | Success is always guaranteed because God provides the grace for what He sends you to do | No heavenly backup — you are on your own |
| Accountability | God is the sender and the sustainer | You are both the sender and the one responsible |
| Scripture as Foundation | Scripture as Ceiling | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The platform and structure that reveals how God works and opens the door to hidden mysteries | A limiting framework that defines the maximum of what God can do |
| Purpose | To give you structure so you can go beyond it into deeper revelation | Treated as the complete and final boundary of all spiritual experience |
| Error | None — this is the correct posture | It restricts God to the past and prevents growth from glory to glory |
| Spiritual Father/Mother | Mentor | |
|---|---|---|
| Nature of relationship | A singular, planted, covenantal spiritual covering | One of many advisors you draw from |
| Number you can have | One | Many |
| What they provide | Direction, instruction, anointing transfer, and spiritual protection | Knowledge, advice, and perspective |
| Effect of lacking one | Delays, things not coming to fruition, spiritual vulnerability | Limited input but no structural consequence |
| True Worship | Emotional/Musical Experience | |
|---|---|---|
| What it produces | Entry into the realm of the Spirit where sickness disappears and God's presence manifests tangibly | A feeling of enjoyment or emotional satisfaction |
| Standard of success | "I touched God" | "It felt good" |
| Character | Unorganized, raw, people weeping, rolling, going to places of deep encounter | Organized, performance-driven, dependent on the quality of the band |
| Open Visions | Closed Visions | Spiritual Visions | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Visions where the prophet opens their eyes in another realm to see what is happening | Visions not visible to the natural eye but perceived through the spirit | Spiritual perception through the eye in the realm of the Spirit |
| Who primarily experiences them | Seers and prophets | Prophets | Prophets — the most common type used in prophetic ministry |
| Nature | Can cause the prophet to appear spaced out | Internal — not visible to others | Internal and active — the prophet is consciously perceiving |
The Structure of the Spiritual Realm
- The human spirit is a transmitter between the invisible world and the visible — it is the part of you that exists in a spiritual dimension.
- The spiritual realm includes lower planes on the earth and the heavenly realms of light — your spirit can operate in both.
- Hell is not at the core of the earth literally but is a spiritual dimension accessed from the center of the earth, where souls are punished.
"Your spirit can move on the atmospheric heaven, which is where like an example is where Abraham's bosom was."
Paradise, Heaven, and the Ascension of the Saints
- No one entered heaven before Jesus came because the full atonement had not yet been paid — even Moses, Elijah, and all the righteous went to Paradise instead.
- When Jesus descended after His death, He led the captives from Paradise into heaven — this is why the tombs in Jerusalem opened and prophets and kings of old were seen in the city.
- Abraham's bosom no longer exists on the earth; it was moved and now exists as a dimension in one of the spheres of heaven where spirits are prepared and instructed before entering the inner city of heaven.
Levels of Angels and God's Glory
- Angels come from different fires of heaven and carry different levels of glory — those from the highest fires carry so much power that even beings from lower fires are overwhelmed by them.
- There is a station in heaven where angels from the highest fires have their glory dimmed before transitioning to assist lower-ranking beings.
- Only the Seraphim stand face to face with God — Gabriel and Michael are Seraphim, and all other angels receive their instructions through the ranking system.
"Angels when they come on the earth, they can come with flesh and they can hang with you like a human being. But if it comes in his fullness of glory, you pass out."
How Angels Grow in Strength
- Angels that excel in strength do so because they are continuously in the presence of God — their capacity does not decrease but keeps increasing.
- The kingdom of God is designed so that those who are high help those who are low to increase — giving flows from the high heavens downward.
- Because God is infinite, those who serve Him continuously grow — there is no ceiling on the increase of heavenly beings.
"They excel in strength because they are giving, and because they are giving God is also giving them. Because remember you are serving an infinite God, God that does not end, that continues to increase."
Angels as God's Mouthpiece
- Moses did not speak to God literally at the burning bush — he spoke to an angel of the Lord who was authorized to speak in God's voice.
- There are angels who carry the authority to stand and declare "I the Lord have spoken" — just as a human minister can pronounce blessing in God's name.
- Undermining the ministry of angels is foolish — there are different rankings in the spirit and different means of divine communication.
"So there are angels that have their ability to stand and speak like God, but not all angels stand and speak like God."
Dreams as God's Primary Language
- Speaking in tongues is a gift — dreams are not a gift because they are part of the human design from birth; everyone dreams automatically.
- There are two levels of dreaming: falling asleep and dreaming, where God interacts with you; and dreaming dreams, where you are the one initiating interaction with God.
- The primary way every believer and every human being communicates with God first is through dreams — not through tongues, not through Scripture.
"Dreams is not a gift because it's part of you. It's the primary way you communicate."
"The problem is you have not upgraded your ability to dream."
Scripture as Foundation, Not Ceiling
- The Bible is a testimony of what already happened — it gives structure for how God works, but God is working from glory to glory and is not limited to past methods.
- If everything the Lord Jesus did were written, there would be no room to contain the books — what is written is sufficient for salvation and correction, not as the full standard of spirituality.
- God promises hidden treasures and things we do not yet know — and if they are things we do not know, they are by definition not found in Scripture.
"Scripture is the foundation, not the ceiling."
"There are hidden things that we do not know of — it means they are not here. You will find Me and when you find Me, I will show you hidden treasures that you do not know of."
True Worship vs. Emotional Experience
- God seeks those who worship in the realm of the Spirit and in truth — this is a location, not a feeling; it is worshipping from a spiritual place, not a carnal one.
- Not all worship brings the presence of God — people have substituted feelings and emotions about a song for the actual presence of God.
- When the presence of God truly manifests through worship, sickness disappears and people in wheelchairs stand — that is the function of worship.
"What you should take from worship is I touched God. Not it felt good. That means nothing."
Building Spiritual Vocabulary Through Dream Interpretation
- When God relates a message to your spirit, your spirit projects it to your soul — and your soul's vocabulary determines whether you can understand what was shown.
- Even Daniel, a mighty man of God, saw visions he could not interpret — Gabriel had to be sent specifically to give him understanding.
- The message in a dream is not in the general narrative but in the specific elements and details — those details must be observed even while dreaming.
"The message is in those things, not in what you are dreaming. What you are dreaming is a side effect of your understanding."
Spiritual Covering and the Power of Obedience
- No believer can be directed by God alone without being under a spiritual covering — Psalm 91 teaches that God's shadow is created when He shines His light upon a man, and that man's shadow becomes your covering.
- A mentor is not a spiritual father or mother — you can have many mentors, but Scripture declares you have one father; delays and fruitlessness in life are often the result of lacking proper covering.
- Power does not come from physical proximity to your spiritual covering — it comes through listening and obedience to what they teach.
"A mentor is not a spiritual father. A mentor is not a spiritual mother. You need to plant yourself somewhere with somebody that can instruct you and direct you."
"Just because I don't speak to you doesn't mean I am not with you if you listen to what I'm saying."
Key Definitions
Dreams — The primary God-designed method through which every human being interacts with the spiritual realm; not a gift but a built-in function of the human spirit from birth.
Dreaming Dreams — A higher level of dreaming in which the believer initiates interaction with God — not passively receiving while asleep, but actively engaging God in the dream state.
Spiritual Vocabulary — The accumulated capacity of a believer's soul to understand and interpret what their spirit receives from the spiritual realm; it must be deliberately built up.
Spiritual Covering — A covenantal relationship under a spiritual father or mother through whom God's shadow rests upon you; it is distinct from mentorship and is singular, not plural.
True Worship — Entering the realm of the Spirit from a spiritual, not carnal, place — resulting in the tangible manifest presence of God that produces healing and transformation, not merely good feelings.
Seraphim — The highest class of angels who stand face to face with God; all other angels receive instructions through the ranking system beneath them. Gabriel and Michael are Seraphim.
Key Takeaways
- Dreams are God's number one communication method for all of humanity — understanding this reorders your entire approach to prayer, spirituality, and how you receive divine direction.
- Scripture is the foundation of spiritual life, not its ceiling — treating the Bible as the complete boundary of what God can do limits you to the past and cuts you off from the hidden treasures God promises to those who seek Him.
- True worship is not measured by how good it feels but by whether you touched God — when genuine worship occurs, the manifest presence of God transforms the environment and heals the sick.
- Spiritual covering is not optional — it is structural — the delays and fruitlessness many believers experience are directly tied to the absence of a spiritual father or mother in their lives.
- Obedience to your spiritual covering activates power — proximity alone does not — what you receive from your spiritual father or mother is unlocked through listening and doing what they instruct, not by being in the same room.
Reflection Questions
- If dreams are God's primary language, how intentionally are you paying attention to your dreams — and what would change if you began treating every dream as a potential message from God?
- Have you placed Scripture as a ceiling over your spiritual life, limiting God to what you have already read and understood — and what might you be missing as a result?
- Who is your spiritual father or spiritual mother? If you cannot name one, what is preventing you from planting yourself under a genuine covering?
- When you leave a church service or worship gathering, do you measure it by how good you felt — or by whether you actually touched God? What would it require to shift that standard?
- Is there an area of your life where delays and fruitlessness have accumulated? In light of this teaching, could the lack of spiritual covering be a contributing factor — and what step can you take this week to address it?
Prayers and Declarations
Opening Prayer
"In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I say, cure you by the spirit of God. And by reason of the blood of Jesus, there is no claim of your family from this day. In Jesus mighty name, amen. It is done in Jesus name."
"In the mighty name of Jesus, I break the curse, I break the curse, I break the curse, I break the curse in the mighty name of Jesus. Whatever ancestral spirit that was set against you, destroyed in the name of Jesus. I command your cycle and everything about you to normalize now in Jesus name. May you begin to see your cycle before this week ends in the name of Jesus. And I release you into your marriage. I release you into your marriage and I release babies and children unto you. In Jesus my name. Amen, it is done."
