Growing in the Spirit: Critical Thinking, Spiritual Language, and Accessing Deeper Dimensions of God

Growing In The Spirit · Part 5 of 5

← Part 4
Teaching by Prophet Lovy L. Elias · Watch on YouTube · 5 August 2019

Maturity in the Spirit requires intentional thinking, the language of heaven, and a treasure — not merely a desire — for the Holy Spirit.

Spiritual growth is not passive. Believers are called to develop critical thinking, engage the language of the Spirit realm, and move with intentionality through prayer, tongues, and meditation. The kingdom of God is not a distant location to be sought — it is a Person to be known, and every dimension of that kingdom is accessed through the languages God has given: tongues of men, tongues of angels, and tongues of God Himself.

Teaching Overview

  1. Believers must develop critical thinking to access mastery in the Spirit and receive what God has already decided to give.
  2. Prayer, seeking, and knocking are three sequential and interconnected elements of growing in the Spirit realm.
  3. There are three distinct spiritual languages — tongues of men, tongues of angels, and tongues of God — and access to each requires a relationship with God first.
  4. Speaking in tongues is an intentional act of the believer that builds up the soul, releases mysteries, and activates spiritual alertness.
  5. Interpretation of tongues and spiritual communication operates by impression and context, not by word-for-word translation.

Dealing with the Enemy Early

  • The devil is introduced in Genesis 3 as a serpent, but by Revelation he is called that old serpent, that dragon — the longer he is not dealt with, the more formidable he becomes.
  • What is manageable as a snake becomes a fire-breathing dragon when left unaddressed.
  • God places His people in the garden of provision, but the enemy is also present — the one who holds what he has been given is the owner, and ownership requires vigilance from the beginning.

"Killing a snake is easier than killing a dragon. Many of you are dealing with dragons because you failed to kill a snake."

God's Decision Over Your Deservings

  • David did not become what he was because he deserved it or worked for it — he became what he was because God decided.
  • The devil's mission is to make believers disqualify themselves from what God has already decided to give, exploiting the belief that everything must be earned.
  • There are things from Jesus that cannot be worked for — they can only be given, and they are released when a believer humbles themselves under the mighty hand of God.

"You don't deserve things because you worked, but because God decided."

The Power of Critical Thinking

  • Believers who do not think cannot grow — every area of mastery in the Spirit requires critical thinking.
  • The reason past breakthroughs cannot be replicated is that they were stumbled into without thought, making them unrepeatable without intentional reflection.
  • Even declarations such as "I receive" must be rooted in understanding — saying it as a motivational phrase without critical thinking behind it produces nothing.

"Anything that you have mastery over requires critical thinking. It won't come easy, it won't come natural, it will require you to think."

Faith Must Be Rooted in God's Word

  • Faith is not a leap into uncertainty — it is substance rooted in the words of God that have been thought through, searched, and internalized as conviction.
  • Faith declares that the outcome has already happened and acts on that certainty — it does not act in order to discover whether something will happen.
  • What masquerades as faith but is built on possibility rather than conviction is hope and wishful thinking.

"Faith says it has already happened. I'm gonna do it because it has happened. Faith doesn't say 'I'm going to do it and see what is going to happen.' That is hope and wishful thinking."

Ask, Seek, and Knock

  • Asking, seeking, and knocking are three sequential and interconnected elements of functioning and growing in the realm of the Spirit.
  • The sequence is binding: not knowing what to ask means not knowing what to seek, and not knowing what to seek means the door to the Spirit realm cannot be found.
  • Prayer generates revelation and understanding that there is more beyond the current level — but many things that push a believer forward are not in prayer itself, but in seeking what God has kept.

"If I don't know how to ask, I will not know what to seek. If I don't know what to seek for, I will not find the door. All of these are connected."

The Kingdom Within You

  • The kingdom of God is not a location to be sought — it is a Person, and that Person is Jesus Christ.
  • Believers have already been taken out of the kingdom of darkness and placed into the kingdom of light — one cannot search for what one is already inside.
  • What a mature believer seeks are higher dimensions and deeper access within the kingdom, not the kingdom itself.

"You cannot look for where you're already in. The kingdom is a person. The kingdom is not a location, it's a person."

Three Languages of the Spirit

  • There are three categories of spiritual language: tongues of men — which include diverse human languages — tongues of angels, and tongues of God.
  • Access to the tongues of angels is granted through God, not apart from Him — "You cannot go through angels to get to God. You go to God to get to angels."
  • God is called the God of hosts: He will not grant access to His angels to one who has not first gained access to Him.

"It's the tongues of God that gives you the tongues of angels. You can never — remember, it's called 'the God of hosts.' He will not give you access to His angels unless you have access to Him first."

The Power of Thoughts in the Spirit Realm

  • In the realm of the Spirit, thoughts speak louder than words — God searches the intent of the heart, not the mouth.
  • Praying for something while thinking the opposite of it produces nothing, because a person becomes what they think, not what they pray.
  • Meditation on the Word is the mechanism by which thinking is aligned with the Spirit — this is why God commands meditation day and night.

"God does not say you are what you pray. He says you are what you think."

Treasuring vs Desiring the Holy Spirit

  • The Holy Spirit is already present in every believer — He is not to be desired as a future possession but treasured as a present reality.
  • What one has, one treasures and honors; what one wants for the future, one desires — desiring the Holy Spirit signals a failure to recognize His presence.
  • God does not answer what is prayed — He answers the intent of the heart, and a heart that treasures what it carries will see that treasure activated.

"Don't desire the Holy Spirit. Treasure the Holy Spirit because you have Him."

The Purpose and Power of Speaking in Tongues

  • The primary reason to speak in tongues is that the believer is directly interacting with God Himself — unknown tongues are spoken unto God, not unto men, and carry mysteries.
  • Speaking in tongues builds up the soul — the soul is what requires strengthening to work in greater alignment with the spirit.
  • Tongues produce spiritual alertness, boldness, identity, the release of knowing, and a sensitivity to what God is releasing in the Spirit.

"The number one reason why you should speak in tongues is because you are interacting with God himself."

Speaking in Tongues Is the Believer's Act

  • In Acts 2:4 and Mark 16:17, the subject of the verb is always "they" — the believers spoke, not God speaking through them involuntarily.
  • Just as casting out devils requires the believer to decide and act, speaking in tongues requires the believer's intentional decision to speak.
  • The Holy Spirit gives utterance — meaning the capacity and the language — but the act of speaking belongs to the believer.

"They — same way you cast out devils, they — same way you do everything, they — same way you pray in tongues."

Learning Tongues Through Repetition and Faith

  • No language in the world is learned by first understanding it — every language, including tongues, begins with repetition and copying.
  • Speaking in tongues requires faith, as does everything in the Spirit, and beginners will make mistakes, have a limited vocabulary, and stumble — this is normal and expected.
  • The solution is not to wait for certainty but to begin speaking, just as a child begins to speak by copying before comprehending.

"You can never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever speak in tongues without making mistakes. In the beginning you will not be sure."

Interpretation by Impression

  • Interpretation of tongues operates by impression and context, not by matching words to their linguistic equivalents — it is not translation.
  • A short utterance in tongues can carry a lengthy interpretation because the feeling and meaning of what is being communicated supersedes the literal content.
  • Everything God communicates is unto edification — when an interpretation produces bondage, fear, or isolation, it is not from God.

"Interpretation is not translation. Interpretation is more in what it feels like, not the content of what you are saying."

"Whatever God does is always unto edification. God keeps it simple."

The Language of Creation

  • Everything in creation communicates — the body, the blood, the lungs, hunger, fatigue — all carry messages that require sensitivity to interpret.
  • People who are observant — who listen more than they speak — are the greatest candidates for the prophetic, because the prophetic requires sensitivity to what is already being said.
  • Spiritual sensitivity is trained through the same principle: those who talk the most are often the least aware of what is happening in the realm of the Spirit.

"There is an observant people, a greater candidates for the prophetic. People who talk the most don't know what is happening in the realms of the Spirit."

Key Definitions

Critical Thinking — The intentional act of examining what one is doing, saying, and believing in order to reach mastery; without it, breakthroughs cannot be replicated and growth is impossible.

Faith — Substance rooted in God's Word, internalized through thought and conviction, that declares an outcome has already happened and acts accordingly — not a hope that something might occur.

Interpretation — A Spirit-sensitive summary of what a communication means, based on impression and context, not a word-for-word rendering; the mode by which tongues, visions, and body language are understood.

Tongues of Angels — A secret spiritual language that grants the believer direct interactive access with angelic beings; it can only be accessed through God, never apart from Him.

Tongues of God — The highest category of spiritual language, through which a believer speaks mysteries directly to God in the realm of the Spirit; it is the gateway to the tongues of angels.

Treasuring the Holy Spirit — Honoring and engaging what one already possesses; distinguished from desiring, which is directed at what one does not yet have and implies ignorance of what has already been given.

Key Takeaways

  • Critical thinking is the gateway to spiritual mastery — Without deliberate reflection on what God is doing and saying, a believer cannot replicate breakthrough or advance to the next level.
  • Faith is certainty of what has already happened, not a gamble on what might — Confusing faith with hope and wishful thinking leaves believers acting without the substance that produces results.
  • You go to God first — never through angels to reach God — Spiritual access follows divine order: intimacy with God unlocks interaction with His hosts, not the other way around.
  • Speaking in tongues is the believer's intentional act — The Holy Spirit provides utterance, but the believer must decide to speak; waiting for an involuntary experience is a misunderstanding of how tongues operate.
  • Interpretation is by impression, not translation — Sensitivity to what the Spirit is communicating requires stillness and observation, and everything God communicates will always build up, never bring into bondage.

Reflection Questions

  1. Where in your spiritual life have you been waiting passively for a breakthrough that God is actually calling you to think your way into — and what would it look like to engage it with critical thinking?
  2. When you declare "I receive" or exercise what you call faith, is it rooted in the conviction that something has already happened, or is it closer to wishful thinking? What is the difference in your daily practice?
  3. Are you desiring the Holy Spirit or treasuring Him? What would it practically mean to honor what you already carry rather than seek what you believe you lack?
  4. Have you been consistent and intentional in speaking in tongues, or have you been waiting for something to "come upon you"? What is one decision you can make this week to begin or deepen this practice?
  5. In which areas of your life is God already speaking — through your body, your circumstances, your impressions — and you have not been still enough to interpret what He is saying?

Prayers and Declarations

Opening Prayer

"I pray for you in the name of Jesus, that the Lord will touch you wherever you are. I pray that the Sula Manuanting shall come upon you as you listen to this prayer. I pray that your spiritual ears and your spiritual eyes and your spiritual understanding shall be unlocked this day. I pray that the mysteries of Jehovah God shall be released unto you. I pray that you may know His power, that you may know His love, that you may know His mind in your life this day. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus. May what was impossible become possible now."

"Kaproso tolaman delicathe azuka ramande Mavo mavo mavo mavo. I pray that my encounters with the Lord will become your encounters. I pray that every single angelic visitation that I've experienced may the Lord favor you today. May the Lord give you the grace to see the things that I have seen and be on. I unlock you in the prophetic today. I release the Sulama Noiting upon you today. May angels ascend and descend upon you in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus. May the Lord be glorified through your life. May the world know that Jesus is alive by reason of Him manifesting Himself through you."

"I decree as a prophet of God: There will be a difference from this day when you stand before people. When you pray there will be a change that people will know that the Holy Spirit is upon you and that you have the intention to do the work of God, to be a shield for your family, to be a defender of your family. Let it be so now, in Jesus' mighty name."
