The Complete Power of the Cross: Understanding What Christ Already Accomplished
You are not called to carry a cross — you are already crucified with Christ, and learning to live from that reality changes everything.
The complete power of the cross is not a doctrine to admire from a distance — it is the operating reality of every believer's life. Most Christians are fighting battles that were already won, carrying crosses they were never meant to carry, and applying old truths to a new dispensation. Understanding what the cross actually accomplished — and what it demands of the flesh — is the foundation of every breakthrough in the Christian life.
Teaching Overview
- Number one is to expose and number two is to kill.
From this explicit point, the sermon builds the following framework:
- Believers are already crucified with Christ — the call to "carry your cross" belonged to a pre-crucifixion dispensation and does not apply to the New Testament believer.
- The primary deliverance God has ordained is not from demons but from the flesh — the only real stumbling block of a believer.
- All spiritual growth, overcoming, and breakthrough come through revelation truth, not through prayer, fasting, or religious practice alone.
- The cross canceled every ordinance spoken against us — generational curses, limitations, and the past are nailed there and cannot return.
Key Distinctions
| Growing in the Spirit | Growing in Religion | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Maturing in spiritual reality, revelation, and relationship with God | Increasing in religious knowledge, practice, and external observance |
| Source of change | Internal transformation through revelation truth | External conformity through discipline and tradition |
| What it produces | Prophetic activation, spiritual fluency, overcoming power | Familiarity with Scripture without transformation |
| How it operates | Spirit-first, driven by what God is presently saying | Practice-first, driven by inherited traditions and old truths |
| Risk if neglected | Remaining in old dispensational truth while expecting new results | Becoming like Peter — adopting old truth for acceptance rather than living in present revelation |
| Scripture | The Word | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The written text of the Bible | A person — Jesus Christ Himself |
| How it is engaged | Studied and learned by the believer | Teaches, leads, and directs the believer |
| What it produces | Fluency in biblical language and doctrine | A study of God's divine mind expressed through you |
| Primary function | A communication tool for those who have not yet matured to hear God directly | The living voice of God that gives understanding and activates faith |
| System | Function | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The physical, visible structure of the faith | The spiritual reality and power behind the structure |
| What most churches emphasize | The physical aspect — what people can see | Often neglected in modern Christianity |
| What produces change | The spiritual function, which transforms the physical | The system alone cannot produce true change |
| Past Dispensational Truth | Present Truth | Future Truth | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Truth that was valid in a previous era of God's dealings | Truth that is active, applicable, and anointed right now | Truth that is real but whose time of full application has not yet come |
| Example | Abstaining from unclean meats (Levitical law) | The believer is crucified with Christ; the flesh is the primary battlefield | In heaven, prophecy will cease — all will know God's mind directly |
| Who benefits | Those in the dispensation for which it was given | Every believer operating in the current move of God | Reserved for the age to come |
| Danger of misuse | Binding believers under laws that no longer apply — becomes a doctrine of devils | Ignoring it in favour of past truth produces powerlessness | Misapplying it prematurely creates false doctrine |
| Demons as Stumbling Blocks | The Flesh as Stumbling Block | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | External spiritual opposition from enemy forces | The sin-infected body and nature that wars against the spirit |
| Power over a believer | Defeated in Christ — demons end up under a believer's feet | The only real battlefield — the flesh cannot be rebuked or bound |
| How it is addressed | Cast out through the authority of Christ | Death to self through the revelation of co-crucifixion with Christ |
| What deliverance looks like | Casting out through prayer and authority | Walking in the reality that the old nature is already crucified |
| Self-Preservation | Death to Self | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Justifying yourself, defending your reputation, getting off the cross when accused | Accepting exposure and remaining on the cross even under criticism or shame |
| Response to accusation | Trying to save face and prove you are not what was said | Taking a nail and nailing yourself more firmly — not getting off the cross |
| What it looks like before God | Appearing justified to men but completely dishonouring to God | Honouring the purpose of the cross — death to the old nature |
| What it produces | Making the whole situation worse in the sight of God | Conformation to Christ and the completion of the cross's work |
The Problem of Growing in Religion Instead of the Spirit
- Christianity is a religion, but most believers do not understand the fullness of what Christianity is built upon — the apostolic heritage handed down from the earliest disciples.
- The charismatic movement lacks the apostolic heritage that Catholic and Orthodox traditions preserved — including understanding of the altar, the centrality of communion, and the creedal foundations of the faith.
- Not knowing the church fathers, their battles over doctrine, and why we believe what we believe leaves believers without the spiritual foundation their faith requires.
"The founders of our faith who received what they have from the Apostles — we don't even know who they are, and we wonder why the church is not powerful."
Scripture vs. The Word
- Scripture can be studied; the Word cannot be studied — the Word is a person, Jesus Christ, who teaches, leads, and directs.
- The purpose of studying Scripture is not fluency in Bible language — it is to express God's divine mind to those who have not yet matured to hear God directly.
- When the word of God was rare, it was not the absence of Scripture — it was the absence of open vision, the absence of God speaking.
"You don't study the Word, the Word will give you a study of you — Jesus. Because the Word is a person."
Prophecy, Springs of Living Waters, and the Prophetic Well
- Rivers of living waters are not the Holy Spirit — they are the prophetic utterance of God; when prophecy enters a person, it creates a spring that wells up unto eternity.
- James 3 confirms that springs refer to the words that come out of a person — a fountain corrupted by cursing and bitterness cannot release prophetic utterance.
- The mouth that blesses and the mouth that curses cannot both produce living waters — the fountain is already corrupted from the start.
"When prophecy enters you, it creates a spring of living waters that spring up unto eternity."
The Purpose of the Cross: Expose and Kill
- The cross is a sentence — it exposes what you are and then kills it; when Jesus was crucified, His charge was written in three languages above Him, and the thieves had their crimes nailed beside them.
- The purpose of the cross is not reform or discipline — its primary objective is to kill; whatever goes onto the cross is exposed and then put to death.
- Jesus overcame the cross not by the cross itself, but by His resurrection — death could not hold Him.
"So the cross killed Jesus. That's what the cross does. It kills. The purpose of the cross is to kill."
"Carry Your Cross" Was Pre-Crucifixion Teaching
- Jesus told His disciples to carry their cross and follow Him before He was crucified — it was a call to be willing to die with Him, not an instruction for the post-resurrection believer.
- After the death and resurrection of Christ, the Apostles received a different revelation: Jesus carried us to the cross with Him and died for us, meaning we are now crucified with Christ.
- Every pastor who tells believers to carry their cross is applying pre-crucifixion teaching to a post-crucifixion reality — believers are already on Golgotha and do not know it.
"You are already on Golgotha. You have already died — you just don't know that you're dead."
The Primary Deliverance: From the Flesh, Not Demons
- The first and primary deliverance God has ordained is not from demons — demons are already defeated in Christ — but deliverance from the flesh itself.
- The flesh is the only real stumbling block of a believer; Satan's only opportunity against a believer is through the body infected with sin.
- The flesh cannot be rebuked or bound, yet it is the very vessel needed to do God's will — this is why it remains the central battlefield.
"The only stumbling block of a believer is the flesh, not Satan. The only opportunity Satan has against you and against me is this body."
Dispensational Truth: Past, Present, and Future
- There is past truth, present truth, and future truth — all are true, but only present truth carries God's anointing and produces results for the believer today.
- When something becomes an old truth, God's hand is removed from it — what Moses commanded about clean and unclean foods was truth in its time but became a doctrine of devils when imposed beyond its dispensation.
- Seducing spirits feed believers old truth — not lies — to keep them from activating faith through present revelation.
"If Satan cannot bring you out of Christ, he will feed you old truth. If Satan cannot stop you from entering into the truth, he will feed you old truth."
The Cross Cancels Every Ordinance Against Us
- Colossians 2:14 reveals that the cross blotted out every handwriting of ordinances that was against believers — not God's ordinances, but every curse, limitation, and word spoken against them that they were justified to carry.
- Whatever a person was lawfully bound to by generational sin, witchcraft, or ancestral failure was taken by Christ, removed from their path, and nailed to the cross where it remains permanently.
- Generational curses cannot be broken through deliverance alone — the believer must first stand in the reality of the cross, from which those ordinances can never return.
"I declare to everyone whatever ordinances was going to keep you from what God prepared for you — because of the cross, all that has been moved out of the way and it has been nailed on the cross. Meaning it can never leave the cross and come to you again."
Praying From Revelation, Not Religion
- Knowing how to pray correctly requires knowing what the cross accomplished — prayer grounded in the reality of the cross targets specific bondages, curses, and limitations with authority.
- A believer can be born again and still die in sickness because they do not know how to access what is already in them — Elisha died of sickness yet his bones raised the dead.
- Spiritual blessings — healing, wealth, freedom, increase — are already present in the believer in spirit; the issue is not their availability but the believer's knowledge of how to access them.
"If you don't know the relics you have in spirit, how can you use them? You can't."
Intentionality and Urgency
- None of the works of spiritual growth — healing, crucifying the flesh, upgrading life in Christ — happen by accident; everything must be intentional.
- Intentionality is impossible without knowledge — doing the wrong thing with sincerity only fortifies what cannot help while the believer continues to believe for a change that cannot come.
- The Lord Jesus is coming soon, and there are souls to save and people who need freedom — believers cannot transfer what they do not possess.
"Everything you do spiritually should not be by accident. Everything should be intentional, but how can you be intentional about what you don't know?"
Key Definitions
Growing in the Spirit — maturing in spiritual reality and revelation knowledge so that the internal transformation changes the external life; distinct from growing in religion, which is increasing external knowledge and practice without inner transformation.
Scripture — the written text of the Bible; something that can be studied by a believer, but which remains information unless the living Word — Jesus — is speaking through it.
The Word — a person, Jesus Christ Himself; the Word teaches, leads, and directs the believer and cannot be studied in the way Scripture is studied — it gives the believer a study of God's divine mind.
Springs of Living Waters — the prophetic utterances that flow out of a person after the word of God enters them; not the Holy Spirit Himself, but the words that spring up from a spirit that has been activated by prophecy and the entrance of God's word.
Ordinances nailed to the cross — every curse, limitation, generational bondage, or word spoken against a believer that gave legal ground for their suffering; Christ took these, removed them from the believer's path, and permanently nailed them to the cross where they cannot return.
Present Truth — truth that is active, anointed, and applicable in the current dispensation; distinct from past truth (which was valid in a previous era) and future truth (which belongs to the age to come); only present truth activates faith.
Seducing spirits — spirits that do not primarily attack believers with outright lies but lead them to depart from present truth by feeding them old truth — doctrines that were once valid but now carry no anointing and cannot produce results.
Key Takeaways
- You are already crucified with Christ — not called to carry a cross — understanding this shifts the entire framework from religious striving to living from a completed, accomplished reality.
- The primary deliverance God ordained is from the flesh, not demons — until a believer identifies the flesh as the real battlefield, they will continue fighting the wrong war and missing the real freedom available to them.
- Prayer and fasting do not cure weaknesses — revelation truth does — without the revelation of what the cross accomplished, transformation is impossible regardless of how much religious effort is applied.
- The cross permanently canceled every ordinance spoken against you — generational curses, limitations, and past verdicts have been nailed to the cross and cannot return; this is not positional theology to admire but a weapon to use in prayer.
- Old truth in a new dispensation becomes a doctrine of devils — applying pre-crucifixion instructions in a post-resurrection era produces bondage, not breakthrough, even when done sincerely.
Reflection Questions
- In what areas of your life have you been applying "old truth" — fasting, striving, carrying burdens — in the place of walking in the revelation that you are already crucified with Christ?
- The teaching identifies the flesh, not Satan, as the only real stumbling block of a believer. What specific weakness in your flesh have you been treating as a demonic problem, and what would change if you addressed it through co-crucifixion with Christ instead?
- Are there areas where you have been growing in religion rather than growing in the spirit — increasing biblical knowledge or religious practice without genuine inner transformation? What does that look like honestly in your life?
- What "ordinances" — generational patterns, spoken curses, inherited limitations — do you need to consciously bring to the cross and leave there, trusting they are permanently nailed and cannot return?
- Everything you do spiritually must be intentional, but intentionality requires knowledge. What is one truth from this teaching that, if you actually applied it this week, would change how you pray, how you see your struggles, or how you live before God?
Prayers and Declarations
Say this three times with everything that is in you:
"I am crucified with Christ."
"I am crucified with Christ."
"I am crucified with Christ."
Everyone on the chat, type this in:
"I need deliverance from the flesh."
Repeat this three times:
"I am sanctified by my declaration."
"I am sanctified by my declaration."
"I am sanctified by my declaration."
Closing Prayer
Before we pray, grab whatever you want to give to the Lord. Please, if you don't pray, don't give.
"Father, thank you for what I have learned. May it truly grow within my spirit."
